Relighting
Ok this is probably a really stupid question so please dont flame me too much........ but how do people feel about stopping a cigar only to light it later that day/night of maybe even a couple days later? I know with a cigarette that if you try and finish one you started before they are just nasty. Is it the same way with cigars? What if I stuck into a tube instead of right into the humidor? Thanks |

As for waiting a few days, that strikes me as overkill. Not only will you leave half-burned but you're losing moisture etc. for all that time...doesn't really strike me as do-able. The most I'll do is set my stick down for a while if I have to run and do something. Yesterday I left the B&M to walk down the street to the ATM, and I left my stogie on the window ledge of the store while I went inside to use the machine. When I came out I replaced the stick in my mouth and puffed it back to full smoking strength, as a soccer mom in an SUV parked out front sat there giving me a disapproving look. I let loose a mighty puff and have her a friendly smile and wave as I moseyed on down the street. But that's about as much time as I like to let mine lapse! |

Re: Relighting
I honestly cannot stand the taste of a cigar if I relight even after a few minutes. That may sound a bit absurd, but I would suggest you do all you can to not let it go out - short of power smoking it to keep it lit. I find the taste gets very off-putting. However, I am always looking for an excuse to try another cigar in the humidor, so perhaps it is fine - one note, if you decide to keep for hours/days, make sure to cut off charred end before placing back in humidor. You will find a stench the next day in you humidor that can only be described as burnt donkey ass and it may even marry unceremoniously with your other prized cigars if you do not give it the moyle's treatment.

Re: Relighting
If you do "Recycle" your cigar, DO NOT put it back into your humidor even if you put it in a tube and duck tape it! The nasty smell will find its way!
I try not to do this unless I'm at work because of time constraints I will save a cigar for later (the same day but not a couple of days later.) If you do choose to save it for later, let it go out by it self and purge the smoke by blowing through it several times as it is going out. This will make the smoke a little more tolerable upon relight. Your other option is go with smaller cigars so you can smoke them in one sitting. |

Re: Relighting
I've done it, but it's not my preferred method. As Taz said, don't even consider putting it back in the humidor, as it will taint your other sticks. I carry a Ziplock bag in the car, which helps me with reducing moisture loss.

Re: Relighting
Cigar will never taste the same, so don't do it unless you have to. I've done it once or twice. I power purge it while it's still lit. I let it go out on its own. Remove excess ash and purge again to get stale smoke out. I'll clip the ash end right off. And purge once more.
I still wouldn't store it in a humidor. A baggie, if you think you won't get back to it soon.
