Diablo Picante Production Date Question

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum, so please excuse my newbie question. I just received two boxes of my second favorite cigar today (favorite is Casa Magna Colorado Robusto) that I purchased from a Pennsylvania retailer online. I noticed on the cellophane outer shrink wrap the date, 08/09/07. Does this mean they were actually rolled or produced on that date and have been in the box all this time? So I assume they have been well aged and they are fine to smoke out of the box? Thank you.

BTW...amazing box they come in.

They stopped making the Diablo line in 2007 so they have been in storage since that date. They are dated when sealed and are ready to be shipped. The only shop that I know of that has them still is Famous. They bought the last of the produced Diablo and are running out. Buy what you can. I still have two sealed boxes myself.

They're not bad, exactly what you'd expect based on the name.

A lot of spice throughout, medium bodied, a decent peppery flavor but very one dimensional, same thing throughout. I had a Petit Corona, with any larger a vitola, the spice would probably be overwhelming.

I bought a few when they were initially marketed a few years ago. It hasn't been all that long, so they apparently died an early death. If memory serves me correctly they were produced by General Cigar.

I don't specifically remember what they tasted like, but I do remember that I liked them at the time.

I have some that are over three years old and still great. I like a peppery smoke and these are definitely peppery. At the Famous price, youd be a fool not to try some while you can get them.

Hi Slyder,

I think they are, but obviously they were not a big hit with smokers. They're peppery or spicy immediately after lighting the foot. The middle is a combination of spicy and creamy, and they tend to end minty/creamy. They produce a good amount of creamy white smoke. I will tell you that tonight my wife enjoyed the aroma. I've also found they are extremly consistant from one to another.

That description is the best I can do.

Thank you all for the great responses!
