My AMAZING Cigar Club Just Keeps Getting Better!...

With all the crappy news about the economy and SCHIP out there, I just wanted to share some great stuff about cigar smoking and how it is alive and well.

As some of you know, I'm a member of this amazing club in North Jersey, about half an hour outside of Manhattan called the Metropolitan Cigar Society.

We have our monthly dinner the first Wednesday of every month and last night was just fantastic.

Rick Chandler from General Cigar came and it was like freakin' Christmas in April as he handed out "seven" different sticks to 80 guys! Started with a Dark Knight from boxes sitting for two years. Then to Hoyos sitting since 2005. Then oily punch maduro robustos, Gran Puros, and a few other beauties. The guy should have worn a Santa suit. General has been such an amazing supporter of the club and last night was just insane.

I personally brought in a Scotch whisky ambassador from a small maker named Compass Box Whisky. They have been lauded by many of the whisky magazines and associations as Scotch maker or Whisky Innovator of the year. The rep is a friend, Robin Robinson and he gave a great 15 minute class on Scotch that even the experts in the room were fascinated by. He talked about the barrels and the wood and how that gives whiskies their defined taste. My fave from them is Oak Cross.

Just before the dinner starts my mobile phone rings and it's Gene Arganese who's in the area and wants to come have dinner with us. If anyone knows Gene, he is such a nice man and loves to hang with cigars smokers and talk about life. Gene has also been great to the club as he has had several groups of ours as his guest to his home in Tamboril, in the DR. The guys stayed past midnight last night even though he had a 2 hour drive home.

To top it off, NY Times Best Selling author Larry Winget who came to our dinner 2 months ago, mailed me a bunch of his new books (People are idiots and I can prove it) autographed to give out as door prizes.

Holy good God, what a night!

I've had several botl's from various boards in as my guests and they all are astounded at our little home away from home in Soprano country. Lew Rothman has made regular appearances and has been so gracious, Rocky Patel stayed til 4am playing cards and dominoes one night, and the guys from Camacho brought a slew of Triple Madors, Selects, and Tenth Annis!.

Hey, I know this was long, but I am still incredibly jacked up from last night. As I said, I just wanted to share something good about cigar smoking to my brothers of the leaf.

Absolutely, bro.

The club even has traveling memberships for sales guys who come to the NY area. It's like $100 for the year.

The only major drawback is that you absolutely stink to the high heavens when you come home. I take my clothes off in the friggin garage and scrub down with soap and you can still smell it. My wife HATES the smell of cigars to begin with, which is always good when you work in the cigar industry.
