That's what I plan on doing. They have a huge one at Club Mac, sorta my inspiration. Gonna be my first project when I retire

That's what I do. I have one that is sitting next to one of my humidors and it gets lots of compliments, even from non-smokers. I have another that is almost complete and it's gonna go in my office.

Re: Rings

So far I just have a lot of them in an aluminum travel humi. I too have the same idea; to make a framed collage one day.

Re: Rings

I may do something like this...

or maybe buy a table and do the same type of thing on the top and then put glass on top of it.

... this is an interesting link (Cigar Band Museum)

http://pages.ripco.net/~whizstrt/gall12.htm

... and for those of you interested, here is a website for vintage cigar and cigarette posters. Some cool ones but I assume they're replicas.

Re: Rings

That is really nice shoe. Hell, I'd never do one that well but, what a nice idea.

Re: Rings

it would be pretty damn cool if you could get a band encased in acrylic or resin so that it could be worn like a ring...

Re: Rings

Wish I had that kind of patience. Mine are all stockpiled in an empty cigar box. I would like to do something like that someday though.

Re: Rings

Not to take away from the creative ideas, but isn't there a site, where you can send in bands for items (like humis)?

I thought I remembered someone posting about getting a desktop for sending in xxxx# of bands.

Yes there is, but I forget the URL. I intentionally didn't book mark it because in addition to the bands, they wanted somewhere in the neighborhood of like $80 additionally for the humi's.

I'll pass on that "deal".

Re: Rings

Spending time smoking has made me really think about the rings. Being new, I have been taking the rings and pasting them into a journal to record my thoughts on that particular smoke. It has allowed me to review my experiences and see what trend in tastes I have developed.

As I go farther down this road, I have thought that I'll keep the rings in some type of container. Especially from special occasions & holidays. Then I look to make my own desktop humidor and put those bad boys on top. Many layers of varnish later I can have a sort of history I can always look down on. Kinda crafty, but in the manly way!

Re: Rings

I started one of these projects but it's since taken a backseat to real life. Too many honey-do's actually. I'll finish it up one of these months. Glad I decided to keep it to a 8.5 x 11 rather than an 11x17 like originally planned.

www.bandwagonusa.com

I just happen to remember seeing it in the JR catalog last month.
You have to send alot of bands, with money in addition to them. The money is what caused me to loose interest as well.

Re: Rings

They are all outside sitting next to my ash try. Kind of looks like a cigar band graveyard.

Re: Rings

All of mine are in a tin next to my empty boxes. No clue what I'm going to do with them, it's always been a ritual after I'm done with a smoke.
