cigar log
Does anybody keep a log book on what they have in their humi/coolerdors? Like what dates certain boxes got put in ect. Maybe keep track of how often you rehydrate your beads. What the temps/RH are.

Re: cigar log
Well using that new iPhone Cigar App. I have started keeping a record of what is in each of my humis. Very handy. I usually keep a mental note of how often between refills of the hydration elements in the humis, but nothing official.

Re: cigar log
I found a free program that you can download called cigar register. Its basically a spreadsheet. You can keep track of all your humidors and whats in them. How many of each cigar ect. It looks really cool. You can put down all your tasting notes and even sync up online to upload everything onto a central site so other people can read your opinions. It says its free and doesnt cost a thing.....you just have to register it. I might check it out.

Re: cigar log
I keep track of what I smoke. I'm old school, I have 2 books of index cards. I tape the band to the card and write a description and a few words on how it lit, smoked etc.

Re: cigar log
I just went through this. I researched it online and then developed my own excel spread sheet. I combined cigar info, inventory numbers and tasting notes all into 1.
The fields I populated were: Brand(LGC), brand name(Series R), manufacturer, humidor date and/or box date if I had it, country of origin, binder, filler, wrapper, size, quantity, and purchase price. Then I added a field for tasting notes and notes in general. It took Sunday and Monday sitting at the computer to input all the data. I still don't have all the binder and filler information. That will take more research. Additionally I found it surprising how many manufacturers have changed sizes and vitolas from year to year. I loooked up some cigars with a year or 2 age on them and find out they aren't carried anymore, but there might be a similar gar to it in a different size now. It makes me wonder if they are tweaking the vitola and size, it probably means they are tweaking the blend also. I had cigars that I had been wanting to try and I didn't know I had. BONUS!!! hey I can smoke that rather than buying one!!! Before I did it, my brother-in-law asked me how many cigars I thought I had, and I took a wild guess. After I was done I realized I had over 100 more than I thougt. It also gave me a chance to handle every single loose cigar in my collection (I didn't pull sticks out of boxes). Luckily and to my relief, I still didn't see any beetle holes. I have a lingereing worry that someday some bug will make sawdust out of my collection and so far, no signs. Re: cigar log
My B&M singles and a selection of my go-to daily smokes are in my two humidors. I have a pretty good idea of what's in there, because I'm in there just about every day. For the cooler, I have a combination of empty boxes I bought from the B&M and some containers that were on closeout at Fred Meyer's. Those have my many bundles in them. I also have a label gun. When I get something new that goes in the cooler, I print out a tape that says what it is, month/year, and a short code for where I got it. I gave up trying to keep track of the counts of each one.
I do have a small, ugly spreadsheet that I cut-n-pasted all the line items from my e-mail invoices into. The only thing it's good for is if I get curious about when or where I bought something, or what it cost, without having to sort through a bunch of e-mails. The whole system is crude and inexact, but it has served my purposes up to now. I don't have anything so vital that I can't ever run out of them, and I'm not really interested in collecting or aging them. Whatever the opposite of OCD is, I think I have it, and I think I got it from my mom.
