Going to Italy, Rome/Sorrento in a couple of hours :)

Hello

I am traveling to Italy for one week in a couple of hours and would like to ask you guys if you can share some good information on:

*Cigars - where to buy? I found out "La casa de Habana" I will check out
*Toscani - Are they worth buying, any special brands?
*Grappa - Any tips? I heard Limonchello is good
*Cheese etc.

All the info I can get is welcome Thanks

I will stay in Rome for four days but will begin my trip with three days in Sorrento.

PS. My GF will have her birthday while we are there, any tips things to do that is very romantic?

.Sebastian.

Grappa is pretty good, as is Limonchello- especially when it is made in the restaurant that it is being served in. For cigars, I didn't see any LCDH when I was there so I would try to keep an eye out for the tell tale signs of Cuban cigars, such as the triple cap and construction of the band. Also, try to buy them in Spain as they will be alot less expensive there. For a romantic evening- definitely start out in some hole in the wall restaurant in Rome , those are always the best. For Spain, go out for Topas at night and remember, FOLLOW THE LOCALS. The locals go to the best places. Try to stay away from touristly places. Have Fun!!

Limoncello will be all over Sorrento since you'll be in the lemon region of Italy. It's great stuff to finish a meal with.

I visited the LCDH in Rome (the old part of Rome about 5 minute walk from Fontana Trevi) - well stocked but don't surprised by the prices.

Enjoy!

Sorry, for some reason I was thinking you said Italy and Spain. So forget the Topas part of my post. Maybe its because my father in law is making paella right now...

Limonchello is pretty much available and my wife and I had it when we visited Trevi Fountain,,,lots of good little places to eat around that area. We stayed at a B&B about 2 miles from the Coliseum and there were 3 restaurants that were excellent,,,great food and drink. As was said, either follow or ask the locals.

Best advice, that I can give you is put your wallets in your front pockets and put your hands in those pockets at all times when you are walking around. Pick pockets are becoming a bad problem in the tourist areas, which includes the Vatican.

I have been to Rome about 5 times recently for work and you'll love it, just were comfortable shoes.

Have fun!

Lemonchello is awesome, the stuff here in the stores is sh!t. Yes, you must get it in a restaurant that makes their own. It can get quite expensive but worth the experience. Many places take great pride in their old recipe. I prefer it strait, chilled, in a sugar rimmed glass. I'm jealous! Enjoy, let us know how it goes for you. As for stogies, I have no idea.
