The only time I have ever seen Fighting Cock was at CI, just check and they don't have them anymore. No telling how much age was on the one you smoked, but good look.

As far as Jom Rome, I hate that dude LOL

Re: Padron 3000: Is there a better $4.00 cigar?

My favorite is the Padron 4000. I buy them from TampaHumidor (box is $125.95) and get the extra $5 for only $10 more. That equates to $4.39 each.

I definitely agree with you. Padron's are simply amazing. Taste is fantastic and the quality and consistency is always perfect. I have never had a Padron that was rolled too tight, not once!

It kills me cause lately I've been tearing through the two boxes of 4000's I had purchased. Still have a bunch but am smoking them far more than my others. I just know it's always going to be a great experience. Lately I've had a few other brands with tight draw, and not it's not my humidity as I've been at 65% for ages now. I get tired and aggrevated to pull out a stick, cut, and try predraw to find it too tight. Then, I pull out another to find the same. Never so with Padron.

Gotta throw the Nubs in this discussion. Disregarding the 'novelty' aspect, they deliver a great taste every time.

And that's one I prefer over the Pardron X000's. No disrespect to the Padrons, but this, after all, is a matter of taste. When I can get an Edge maddie toro for 4 bucks, Oliva G maddie rob, for $2.90 (B&M of course), it's easy for me to pass the Padron display.

Re: Padron 3000: Is there a better $4.00 cigar?

My daily smoke is the Padron 3000 Nat. I order by the box which gets me under $4 per stick. Love how Padron throws in a 26th stick! I have never grown tired of this cigar. Some may call it simple and not very complex but I just crave their straight ahead tobacco taste!!! So, in answer to the question, in my world there is no better approx $4 stick...

Padron's X000 maddies are pretty boss, and the price point makes it an easy favorite. I'm also a big fan of Oliva, which makes fatastic cigars for less than $6 each.

I like Pepin's blends too, but I have a fairly flexible palate.

But, that is another story! All the threads that mentioned Pepin, Fuente and Padron, are absolutely right, fantastic smokes with one exception, YOUR PALETTE! And, another is the price break. Too often, b/sotl get caught up in pricing how a stick will taste, higher the price, it must be a better smoke. All of us, at one time or another, have smoked a $1 stick that was awesome...yes, I mean awesome. I have done that many times. But, I return to my statement...it is MY PALETTE! Right now, I am searching the forum for a $1 stick called the FIGHTING COCK, which just blew my socks off the other night. I want more! Is it a Pepin, or a Fuente or a Padron, no, but, for my taste it ranks right up there for what I need from a smoke. So, what's the point! Forget price, try as many different cigars as you can in all price ranges, listen to others on here and at your local B&M, and continually search for the $1 smoke that fits your palette! And, probably the most important tip that has been passed along to me regardless of the price point and recommendations from all the heavy hitters who give cigars their "mystical" rating, LET THE CIGAR REST FOR AT LEAST ONE MINUTE between PUFFS. (reason is obvious) As Jim Rome would say, "rack, 'em".
Best,

Welll said Chuck,,,still using my Stogie Nubber.

Amen! All of the Olivas are outstanding; the Serie G is a regular for me and it is certainly in the same price range.

Gotta love Padron, like you said always a winner....for me I put Oliva right with them, and...don't laugh but I love CAO Maduro Gold, Brazilia's never had a bad smoke with any of these lines.

I'll second the Brazilia...if it's up your flavor alley it's always a great smoke.

It's hard to not like a Padron. The Oliva's are very good too.

Re: Padron 3000: Is there a better $4.00 cigar?

I get Oliva serie V lanceros online for about $4 each. With a free Oliva sampler including a Master serie. Thats tough to beat IMO.

I find the best deals in the $2, $3 and $10 range. Plenty of $2 and $3 smokes out there that easily top pretty much everything before getting to (a few) better $10 super-premiums and ISOMs. Litto Gomez (LFD) makes some good stuff in the price points in between.

Re: Padron 3000: Is there a better $4.00 cigar?

Recently I also had an Alec Bradley 97 Harvest Selection. I was shocked at how good it was. I bought 8 for $16. It had a near Padron-perfect burn line, firm ash, decent flavor, and the little robusto burned for over 90 minutes. I loved it. For $2-$3 a stick you can't go wrong.
