Actually, I think pay $4.35 or $4.65 at my local B&M. But, I digress.

It's a beautiful Easter Sunday, 67 degrees (F), clear, deep blue sky, azaleas and dogwoods in full bloom, birds chirping, Masters on TV. And a Padron 3000 maduro. Does all of that rich mocha earthy spicy flavor really come from nothing but pure natural tobacco? Amazing.

Last shop I looked for the cheaper padron's at the b&m, I picked up a few Londres Maduros for $2.30 a piece, and my friend got some 3000's for 3.40 a piece.

The x000 series is fantastic.

I would argue that there isn't a better $4 cigar. Tatuaje Angeles is pretty cheap, but a good bit smaller than the 3000 so it's not a fair comparison.

At its price point the Padron 3000 is hard to beat. With some age it is a fantastic smoke.

The Perdomo Fresco is another great cigar in this cheap price range. Hey! A man cannot smoke 8 dollar cigars every day!!

I agree, I like the Perdomo Fresco. I do not care for the regular Padron line....

Is there a better company than Padron? In my opinion no. Their smokes are always consistent, always full of flavor, always well made. Some of their anniversary cigars are pricey, but they are the best smokes you will ever have.

It's all relative, but I will Pepin up against Padron 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

I just do not care for Padron's regular line. I call it their bull shit line, but that's me. I do like the 26s, 40ths, and 80ths, but they are not worth the price in my opinion. But they are not the best cigars I will or have ever had.

If you don't like em, you don't like em. But for what it's worth, if you do like them, they will always be consistent, well made, and delicious, at a great price.

And me, I love em.

Eh, Peppin is great but Padron is the top dog IMO. Matter of taste I supose. Both produce nothing but high quality cigars. Padron Maduros just got such a strong smell to them, almost like mulch (the strength when it hits your nose). So much flavor! I've been dying to have a PAM 40th. Most people I've talked to who have smoked one say its the best they have ever smoked.

I don't mind paying for quality, even though some of their cigars are priced 2-4$ a stick for amazing quality. I'd put Padron and Arturo Fuente ahead of Peppin.

Many of the Oliva vitolas are in this price range, and they make excellent cigars at a fair price.

Re: Padron 3000: Is there a better $4.00 cigar?

This is sort of a digression, but, somewhat makes a point! First, I agree, Padron's are awesome smokes. In fact, the birth of Carlito's Stogie Nubber came via smoking a Padron Anniversaro - 1964. But, that is another story! All the threads that mentioned Pepin, Fuente and Padron, are absolutely right, fantastic smokes with one exception, YOUR PALETTE! And, another is the price break. Too often, b/sotl get caught up in pricing how a stick will taste, higher the price, it must be a better smoke. All of us, at one time or another, have smoked a $1 stick that was awesome...yes, I mean awesome. I have done that many times. But, I return to my statement...it is MY PALETTE! Right now, I am searching the forum for a $1 stick called the FIGHTING COCK, which just blew my socks off the other night. I want more! Is it a Pepin, or a Fuente or a Padron, no, but, for my taste it ranks right up there for what I need from a smoke. So, what's the point! Forget price, try as many different cigars as you can in all price ranges, listen to others on here and at your local B&M, and continually search for the $1 smoke that fits your palette! And, probably the most important tip that has been passed along to me regardless of the price point and recommendations from all the heavy hitters who give cigars their "mystical" rating, LET THE CIGAR REST FOR AT LEAST ONE MINUTE between PUFFS. (reason is obvious) As Jim Rome would say, "rack, 'em".
Best,
Ylo2na

Trust me, I like to try everything. But Padron is a guaranteed go to quality smoke. Same with Fuente, Peppin, Ashton, Oliva. I still like to try other things though.

As I remember, those Fighting Cock cigars were dirt cheap in CI's catalog. I think it might have even been the one that said "these things aren't too good, be warned". As long as you enjoy them though, go for it.

Lifes too short to smoke bad cigars. Never know which one might be your last.
