Cigar Lounge - What to expect
I recently visited the nearest cigar lounge to my home (about 45 minutes away). They had what appeared to be ample seating (all leather chairs and couches), big screen color TV, and (of course) great access to their humidors. They are currently charging $59/yr and offer a 10% discount on cigars bought (and smoked?) there. By the way, midday on Monday saw about 8 patrons. (I thought that was an ample number of patrons for midday on a weekday.)
My question(s): What else should I expect from a cigar lounge? Is this priced right? How often are you able to visit? Anything you could tell me about what you get/expect from a cigar lounge? Thanks for any input you have.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
The price for the year sounds good as well as the disc.
As for the number of visits you have to ask them There should not be a limit. For me I am filling out my app for one by me right now and the deal is $440.00 a year with a private locker and I can go 24/7 and it's 5 buck every time I go with a max payment of $50.00 for the month to cover cost for the club. |

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
Hmm, I cant say that I have been to one that charges 60 bucks a year. Ones we have over here are incorporated into the shop and are free. We also have a cigar bar with a similar setup and they sell alcohol.
I dont do the private lounge thing. To me its just for status. Plus I have a big humidor and don't need a private locker.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
I know of only two in my area that charge people. One charges about $300 per year, and the other is about $60 a month from what I heard. I believe both offer 10% discount on stores purchases. Seems like a complete rip off. Yours however is very fairly priced. Luckily I have a large lounge which is free and open to the public, but if they asked me to pay $59 per year, I would consider it.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
I don't think any of the cigar lounges over here charge. They are either in B&Ms, so it's the 'buy a cigar' code, and then there are cigar bars, which have upped prices on cigars to smoke, serve alcohol/food, and rent private lockers (in one case).

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
It depends entirely on what theyre charging for the sticks. If theyre charging MSRP minus your 10% discount, then that's a good deal. If you like the digs, it's even better.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
Around my area, none of them charge, but they don't offer a discount either. So with the ten percent off, I'd say thats great, you'll make the 59 bucks off in no time.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
$59.00 a year seems awful low, and a hell of a deal.
The going rate around my area is around $500.00 for the year, and a % off the cigars. I almost thought about doing that, but I can smoke at home.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
I have never paid to visit a cigar lounge. I went to one private club as a guest of a friend who is a member. He pays about $50 per month, I believe. I had rather spend the money on sticks instead of a place to sit.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
For new members that is a great deal,,,be sure to ask how many times and what else you get for that kind of membership. When I was a member in Boston it was $300 a year and that included a private locker and 10% off anything in the store.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
The shops I go to to not charge a fee, only on lockers.
My only advice is to not hang around smoking cigars you did not purchase there. And clean up any messes you make. Don't leave bottle, cans, food bags, or whatever behind for the staff to clean up. And if you drop a big ass ash on the floor, clean that up, too. These are sure ways to get banned from the store.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
Good points. Don't be a slob. No one likes it, especially the store. No one around me charges, but my local shop has a deal where you can get a locker for 75/year, and get 10 percent off of all purchases. Seems like a good deal to me. If my humi wasn't so big I'd consider it.

Re: Cigar Lounge - What to expect
None of the ones around me charge. The one I frequent has a $15 minimum purchase per person, per visit. Its great sometimes, however, when its crowded I just take my sticks home. Also, its quite interesting there. Most people look make they are the male counterparts of a 80's power couple (with the suspenders and all), and the store has a statue of Reagan, along with signed photos of George H. Bush, GW, and Condelisa Rice.
