Yeah, it's disconcerting, but I think cigars are generally tougher than we give them credit for. I mean some of these guys will hold 2.5" of ash, I think they can take a little knocking around!

Plus the two shipments I have gotten from them have come without any humidification of any kind, even their parent CI ships with humi-packs in each. Was great since it sat in the local UPS warehouse Fri night, Sat, Sun until delivered Monday. Def not sticking with the once a week shipping if I bid on anything anymore.

I have never had a CI shipment in 10 orders over the last year have a humi-pack in them.

and i just got my first cbid shipment in and it sounded much like Slyders....im amazed how none of them got damaged....i had one box and several 5packs totaling 150$ and being charged 9$ for shipping...it was a large box with less than half the air baggies CI uses and everything was rattleling around loose....unacceptable

Sounds like the usual shipping experience I get from a CI-affiliate. Never has been a problem for me, though.

And I also notice a lot of inconsistency with what "extra goodies" they'll throw in there, too. Sometimes I'll get a humi-pack, sometimes you'll get a nice magazine, sometimes they'll stiff you and not give you a catalog, sometimes they'll give you a zillion air-pouches, sometimes just one so your sticks get knocked around...seems like it all depends on what kind of mood the gals in the packaging department are in.

Re: another crappy Cbid shippment!

I just received a cbid shipment last night, same here with the very loose packing. Box of cigars and 1 air pouch, thing rattled around like crazy. Very intermittent shipping methods.

Not trying to stir anything up here guys, but to me this seems to be much ado about nothing. So far no one has actually reported receiving bad cigars in this thread, just that they were packaged in a manner that could have damaged them. I think you'll find that, as one poster already said, cigars are tougher than we give them credit for. And I know from personal experience with shipments from CBid and CI, if there is ever a problem, call customer service and they immediately make it right. So in the event that sticks arrive damaged, just give them a call. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about something that hasn't been a problem yet. Just my 2 cents.

Re: another crappy Cbid shippment!

Last box I got from them looked like it had been driven over by the delivery truck with one of the 4 corners being smashed almost flat. It was also very loosely packed but again not a single damaged cigar. For their own prosperity they should use some more padding. I have recieved some damaged cigars from them in the past in well packed boxes but their customer service has been excellent to me. They were always willing to replace or refund and only once did they say they were going to send a return shipment label out for me to send back the damaged product. That time I got the replacement cigar and no return label. Now I just need to get some pectin and do some repairs.

Re: another crappy Cbid shippment!

I too just received an 8-pack I won in an auction and the same thing happened to me... Two air pillows, and lots of rattle room. The cigars were undamaged however. At the same time, I won a dutch auction from J&R cigars, and they were packed in am oversized box full of packing peanuts. That is the way to ship cigars (or anything else) that is fragile.

i guess thats the difference between us then. When I purchase something and my credit card is charged...that thing what ever it is becomes mine from that very second and I want it treated like a queen!! I dont believe in the "they can handle the abuse" theory. I dont want them to take a chance with my cigars. I dont want it to get to the point where I have to call customer service...I hate dealing with those people. They dont care ...they dont understand and honestly most of them dont even know what products their company sells! Why should consumers have to send items back that were damaged because some slacker cant handle putting things in boxes and taping it shut?? all of this can be avoided with proper shipping techniques. USPS and UPS damage is a different story. Obviously if they drive over a box its not the fault of the person that shipped it. I dont know if anybody has ever walked around in a UPS distribution center when they are loading trucks but i have and I can tell you that they dont treat packages like they were delicate little flowers!! They are hard on them.....very hard on them. Thats why if they just stuffed the box a little more so the cigars couldnt slap around inside this wouldnt be an issue.

Received a shipment Monday sent UPS. It was loosely packaged and 2 sticks were damaged. Submitted customer service request and was told I'll be receiving a refund for the cost of those two damaged sticks. I'd have rather had two new sticks, but a refund is acceptable.

I understand your point. I guess mine is simply, no harm, no foul. I imagine more elaborate packing = more expensive packing, and I'm comfortable rolling the dice with a company that will refund or replace any damaged products for cheaper shipping. To each his own...

Were they badly damaged? Because if not, a little pectin will take care of most wrapper splits and all of a sudden you got two free cigars. Just looking on the bright side

They're split from end to end and one is crumbling in the cello. I'd image if I take the other out it will just fall apart.
