Perdomo Oscuro?

Anyone have any thoughts on this cigar? It is the Joe deal of the day and it looks amazing. If I had room in the humi I'd buy it and risk them not being so good, but since space is at a premium, I'd like to hear some opinions on them before biting.

Re: Perdomo Oscuro?

Unless someone pops in with an opinion, I think I am going to let them pass this time. They just look so tasty, and they are banded the same as the old reserve maduro line which I really enjoyed. If I had a little more room I'd risk it, but I will have to do some serious reshuffling to fit these babies in as things are now. I'm just glad it is now smoking weather around here so I can start enjoying the fruits of my winter stocking up.

Re: Perdomo Oscuro?

Are we sure this isn't the maduro line? Is it discontinued? CI often gives weird descriptions that aren't consistent with the manufacturers".

Re: Perdomo Oscuro?

Yea they did discontinue the reserve maduro line. They came out with the 10th Anniversary maduro, which is supposed to be similar, but not the same blend. I have a 5er of the 10th that I haven't gotten to yet, but will soon. I had never heard of the oscuro until recently.

Re: Perdomo Oscuro?

Makes me wonder if this isn't CI's way of selling a backlog of the maduros.

The description does sound strikingly similar to what I recall the description on the old maduro being, but I don't think the old maduro ever came in a 5x50 vitola. Who knows...

Re: Perdomo Oscuro?

Their size listings can be suspect, as well.

Re: Perdomo Oscuro?

CI's just renaming the old Reserve Maduro line. The "Oscuro" cigars have the same band as the maduros, and when I put them in the same box as similarly sized maduros, they blended in perfectly. Regardless of what they're called, they are a tasty, and now very inexpensive, smoke.

I'm too much of a noob to give a review, but I bought 2 churchills at my B&M about 3 weeks ago. I bought them because I am a Perdomo fan and I love his ESV's and 2nds. I took the afternoon off today and after washing cars, I smoked one. A tight smoke that I liked.

It was fine with me, but after seeing the prices on joe's daily deal, I would order more if I had the space. I bought them at the B&M for ~ 8 a stick. Not a $8 stick, but for 2.75 each, I would buy them again. Just my .02.

Marketing... just like those Relics.
