Advisory: Cigar Oasis XL - Refill Required
Weird thing happend to me and I gotta assume it has or could happen to someone else and so I would want to help people avoid this issue.
My humidor was open for a few days. The lock was activated and so the lid didn't drop fully down and that small gap (less than a 1/4 inch) was there for a few days and the Humi dried out. Was floating around 62 for a couple days. I didnt understand what was happening though with the Oasis. It was running non-stop for a few days and reading in the low 60's. After a few calls I found out that the cartridge needs to be manually re-filled by me. I did not read that in their manual and did not see it anywhere. Lets leave the common sense part of this out of it for a second. All stores offer a refill cartridge which needs to be purchased anywhere from 6 months to 1 year each time. I thought that the cartridge had enough juice for the entire time, until a new cartridge is needed. Did not know that we need to refill it ourselves once a month. What added to the problem was the failure of the warning system. It has a warning for low water and or low battery and the low water warning did not activate. So anyways. Long story short, we need to refill the cartridge ourselves at least once a month. I did not see any information listed to that regard ANYWHERE. If I am blind and its in the Oasis manual, please show me where it is. Hope this helps someone....or provides you all with a good laugh. ![]() |

yea, not to break your heart or anything, but this is fairly common knowlege. That said I prefer beads over my oasis's any day.

Mine holds distilled water...I'm sorry, I can't begin to imagine where you'd think it wouldn't need filling.

Re: Advisory: Cigar Oasis XL - Refill Required
A couple of months ago I bought a used humidor with an electronic humidifier - the first one I've ever owned. The first thing I asked the previous owner was how you fill it and how often. Like any other humidification device, it humidifies the air inside the humidor by gradually releasing the moisture inside - drying itself out as it does. Any humidification device needs refilling from time to time, whether it is active or passive.

It never occurred to me that I didn't need to refill it.

Re: Advisory: Cigar Oasis XL - Refill Required
I refill mine in winter 2 X a week, in summer once a week. Wish i could fill once a month, check your water levels weekly, or you might prematurely burnout your unit.
good luck AJ |

Does this mean my car will eventually run out of gas and I'll need to go to the dealer to have another tank installed?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, David. I'm sure you're not the only one to make that mistake!

Re: Advisory: Cigar Oasis XL - Refill Required
hahahahahahahahahaha
Oooh man, I remember when I was a "Cigar Virgin" no forums back then! Anyway remember not to over fill it! If you do the fan will push the water mix* out of the ports making a big mess, yep I did that !! lol Fill it slowly, especially if it becomes almost all the way dry (try not to let this happenand) just fill it until your water mix* ever so slightly covers the foam. what I use now in mine *I mix one botle of 50/50 sulution with about a gallon of distilled water <- works for me anyway And welcome to the forum !

Re: Advisory: Cigar Oasis XL - Refill Required
No problem. Just make sure your cigars stay in the 60%-70% "Club", and you'll be fine!
