Re: Beverage Suggestions: Slightly Sweet...
I've found that something on the sweet side seems to work best. However, I like beer, and tend to drink that most with my stogies. Even though it may not be the best pairing.
Some of the pairings I like are single malt scotch on the rocks Rye whiskey with ginger ale port madeira wine Bold red wine Rum and Coke or Ginger Coffee with milk or flavoured milk Hey Rev, thanks for those sweeter beer recommendations. I think I'll give some of them a try.

Baileys or hot chocolate with Baileys. The creaminess seems to hold the smoke.

Re: Beverage Suggestions: Slightly Sweet...
I like Rum as well. My favorite drink with any cigar is Cruzan dark rum mixed with Diet Dr. Pepper.
The diet still lets the rum flavor come through and the Dr. Pepper gives a nice mixture of flavors. |

I also like Ice Tea but I 50/50 mix Green Tea with Lemon and Honey with Raspberry Tea.

Re: Beverage Suggestions: Slightly Sweet...
Generally I prefer diet coke and sometimes I like Capt Morgan spiced rum.
I normally do not like beer with cigars but in the summer I will have a couple of corona's while enjoying cigar but still not the same as my old diet coke |

Re: Beverage Suggestions: Slightly Sweet...
Drambuie with any cigar,,,I swear this drink only enhances the taste of tobacco.

You could go with my favorite "Old ladies drink" - the Rusty Nail. 1/2 Drambuie and 1/2 scotch. It is how I cut my teeth on scotch years ago. Gradually weened off the Drambuie when I finally "acquired" the taste for scotch. I read somewhere awhile ago it is often best to match flavors. For example strong with strong. Given this logic a "peppery" Pepin stick would match with a "Hoppy" beer or "Peaty Scotch". Sweet Maduros might go better with some sweetness in your drink (ie Rum and coke and rusty nails). I was thinking about this last night. I was smoking a two year old Chateau Real that was fantastic. I am impressed how this "milder" stick has held up for two years. Lots of creamy goodness that was matching perfectly with a cup of coffee and cream. I went inside and poured a Dram of Caol Ila (Islay), whch I love. It kind of ruined the experience. Both the cigar and the whiskey (and the coffee for that matter) all suffered. I shoud dhave left well enough alone and just stayed with the coffee and the Chateau Real. Introducing the "Peaty" stronger flavor of the Whiskey just didn't fit in and brought everything down. FWIW
