Storing Glass Tubos

What is the right thing to do? I have 30 Bolivar cigars in glass tubes with corks arriving tomorrow. I am leaning towards taking all of them out of their tubes, before putting them in the humidor. Am I doing the right thing in doing this? I just need some sage advice from the expierenced puffer Fish on the board. Thanks!

Re: Storing Glass Tubos

Take them out and let them age in your humidor with your other cigars. The tube is a gimmick and is only for show.

I would keep them though and if you want to give a few as a gift, stick them back in the tubo and your friend will be impressed.

I would keep them in the tubes. Correct me if I'm wrong but I would think that the tubes would protect your cigars.

The tubes will protect your cigars but is not 100% air tight. As mentioned, if you are considering long term aging then I would take the corks out at the least.

The tubes protect the cigars, improve aging and look good. I don't know why everybody always wants to take them out - it's not like they're air tight.

I had the same ones, the Suntuoso En Tubos correct? I took mine out of the tubes. The tubes really are just for nice looks. I wanted to make sure the humidity was able to easily balance that of my humidor, which would've happened anyway but would've took a little longer with the corked glass tube.

Exactly the same ones! You guys have changed my mind, i am going to store them in the tubes, since they are for long term storage. Thanks!

One last thing I forgot to mention. Another reason I pulled mine out of the tubes is because I bought the Colosales which are 7.25" long. In my old small humi they wouldn't fit the way I had the cigars laying so I had to take them out of the tubes.

By the way, did you try the regular Bolivar Cofradia (non Suntuoso)? They are one of my favorite sticks. I get the Oscuro 654's. Only problem is lately I've been getting so damn many that are rolled waaay too tight. You can see how overly jam packed with tobacco it is when you cut it. It's really upsetting because I've been putting all the tight ones aside with the plan to someday unplug them all with something. I kinda feel like I got ripped off with how many I've gotten that are unsmokeable without doing a good unplugging. Haven't had this with the Suntuoso's, but IMO the Cofradia standards are better - fuller bodied. Enjoy them!

Thanks for the suggestion.Twenty of the Bolivars I have coming are 10 Suntuosos Cofrida Colosales, and 10 Suntuosos Cofrida Club 650's. The first boxes I received from JR Cigars, were dry as a bone, so I sent them back. I am waiting for the replacments...
