Gah! Post-SCHIP price increase at my B&M

They put off repricing for a while but I went in today and there everything was.

Horrible. We have bad state taxes already, and the legislature just proposed ADDITIONAL tobacco taxes this week...this is on top of everything we have and what just passed nationally.

I spent quite a while in the humidor just looking at everything...it's hard to find something that's "good" for under $10 after all taxes and everything. All my old favorites are right there around 10 bucks. This sucks.

I envy you guys who have B&Ms where you can get and sample quality sticks for relatively close to MSRP...I am much less inclined to be adventurous and smoke something new if I'm paying $10/stick for it.

Sorry to hear that. Which state do you live in? Michigan has many B&Ms and reasonable pricing. At least you can still shop online.

That really sucks...
Prices should not have increased overnight, as there was no floor tax on cigars.
Also, some manufacturers are holding the line on prices.
The retailers have no responsibility for paying SCHIP taxes and should be increasing their prices only after receiving new inventory.
Shop around... you should be able to find lots of pre-SCHIP prices throughout 2009!

Is it Wisconsin? I really don't see how B&M can compete here, though I try to pick up a stick time to time local. The taxes are just insane.

That sucks, at this point I try not to think about SCHIP and just convince myself that I've always been paying this much.

To know that our great George W. voted against this SCHIP deal, I bellieve twice, and now Obama voted for it right away is a great slap in the face. But then again its for the kids, but not mine anyhow...
