Re: Illusione Epernay?

Ok nubbing this baby now, it has burned great. The flavor did pick up in the 2nd half of the cigar which is to be expected, but it has stayed smooth. I would say in body its a little lighter then the reg line but once again that's not a bad thing. I think this is a great cigar and I have really enjoyed it!

Re: Illusione Epernay?

I thought you all would like to know that the Epernay was released on an introductory limited basis in April. I spoke to the distributor himself this afternoon. This line, will be ready for mass distribution mid to late summer and should be in a store near you. You can get them at select shops and places online till then. I frequent Dion's Fumare in Reno, NV.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

I thought it was a joke when I first read the name of the cigar,,,like it was Pig Latin for some off the wall cigar by Illisione.

Dan does a great job and has always had Illusione in stock from when they first came out. So do take this the wrong way. I just compared the prices from there and Serious and when it comes to buying by the Cab they are like $50 cheaper at Serious! When it comes to buying 5ers they are also cheaper by a buck or two, and at Serious you can buy singles.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

I noticed there was no price break between the 5ers and the Cabs at NHC too. Might as well stick to 5ers. Usually you'd get a % discount for buying a "box"

Re: Illusione Epernay?

Just finished one of the little Epernays. Wow! A smoother version of the MK. Burned like a champ with tons of delicious smoke. Taste was toasted cashews on a cedar plank with a hint of raisins soaked in Pernod. Enough straight ahead spicy tobacco and nic delivery to have me rubbing my head like a junkie after the first puke, dazed and happy. For me, this little firecracker epitomizes the blenders art. Dion gets my vote for best new cigar of 2009. Keep it up, Bro.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

So can you tell a difference in the Epernay and the eccj? I have several eccj and love 'em, and was wondering if it's really worth ne getting any Epernay?

Re: Illusione Epernay?

I have only one eccj but have never smoked one, so I can't compare them. And even if they are the same blend none of them are the same excate size of the eccj. They are about the same price vs size.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

Ok was going to smoke another one of these tonight, but instead fired up a Illusione eccj to see what the difference was. They have the same flavor profile but the eccj is not as smooth and is more spicy. I think I will buy more of both.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

Smoked a Petite Corona size tonight. Actually prefer it to Illusione line (had the Bombone last night), although ran into lots of ammonia in Eperany which somewhat detracted from complete enjoyment of the cigar. Overall, not as big bodied as Illusione line, but flavor wise is more up to my liking (I do like Illusione a lot), nice spicy kick to it and some sweet notes on the palate. If I could only marry the body and smoothness of Illusione line with spiciness and complexity of Eperany, that would be one incredible smoke, indeed. As is, I will let the others sleep to get rid of ammonia.
