Illusione Epernay?

Anybody know anything about this new Illusione cigar? I have either never heard of it or forgotten about it LOL. The local B&M has it, may have to pick one up tomorrow and smoke it.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

Ok a quick search has me thinking it is the same blend as the eccj which will not be made anymore. But it comes in 4 sizes.

Found this online
"This blend originally debuted in 2008 through the e c c j 15th limited release*.From this blend, Epernay has been made into four unique and exciting sizes with a combination of Criollo and Corojo tobaccos. The cigar is finished with a superior-grade Café Rosado coverleaf. The Epernay blend is very complex and perfectly balanced treating the palate to hints of coffee and honey, further enhanced through the olfactory with floral notes, and a creamy finish."

And it has a Corojo wrapper, I must try!

Re: Illusione Epernay?

I got an email from my local Tinderbox guy... this is what he had to say about it..

Dion Giolito, the founder of Illusione, came up with a very special blend and a very special cigar for the 15th anniversary of the European Cigar Cult Journal, the eccj. We received several of these limited boxes and because of the enthusiastic reception of this blend by the Journal enthusiasts Dion decided to continue production under the Illusione brand as, Illusione Epernay series. We currently have three shapes and this cigar definitely deserves your attention. The blend consists of a very special Corojo wrapper which delivers a wonderful sweet herbal taste to this Nicaraguan puro. There is a limited run of these cigars presently and they will be formally introduced at the IPCPR trade show in August. So, don't delay on this one. A perfect taste point for the Spring/Summer.

Looking forward to trying it and also reading what the fellow fish think of it. A bit unfortunate that they only come in cabs of 50...will be an expensive purchase!

Just bought 5 of them. Sitting down at the B&M and lite one up. Starting out very smooth with a lot of smoke. Will update as I smoke.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

Oh I didn't say anything about how the cigar looked. Its a 5 3/4 by 48, lighter color then the reg line but nice and oily looking.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

I'm at Serious and they have all 4 sizes, in fact Ron had to get the box out of the back and open it so I could buy them. For anybody who wants to try them he sells singles online Serious Cigars

Re: Illusione Epernay?

Man this thing is making a ton of smoke it seems just a lighter lighter then the reg line but that's not a bad thing. A pretty straight burn with a grey ash, more to the dark side then light side. It has a nice earthy with slight spice and a very small sweet hint to it. Also picked up some nuts on a couple puffs.

Re: Illusione Epernay?

About half way into the cigar. Very straight burn now with zero touch ups, nice smooth and complex with a lot of smoke and a great finish. Med to full body, I'm loving this cigar!
