My deepest sympathies. Now that I have resumed this wonderful obsession after a long layoff, & have really built a fine however small collection of eclectic and 90+ rated stogies, a loss such as yours would devastate me. Your loss is our gain in that we collectively should learn that cigars like people are subject to the vagaries of life. May there be many fine cigars awaiting you down the road.

Point taken. Here in my area of Georgia, even inside with the a/c running it rarely gets below 50% and routinely stays around 60% to 70%. The advice I offered was to be taken with a grain of salt.

Re: Water damage and MOLD (pics!)

that is the most incredible self-inflicted cigar damage i've seen in a long while...maybe ever. considering the havoc wreaked, you seem to be handling it quite well, bro.

i don't quite understand how leaving a closed water bottle would've done such damage, so do you think that you over-saturated the beads? just a few spritzes should do it.

Re: Water damage and MOLD (pics!)

Damn bro that totally sucks!! I guess the only good that will come of this is that I know you won't ever do it again!

You asked about some new cigars, maybe Tats, well Pete has the Cabaiguan Maduro out right now, I'm pretty sure these are a very limit release that only comes out a couple times a week. You could also try the new Cubao by 601 and the new Padilla Miami. I think they are all great smokes.

Yeah the beads were over saturated. I mean, they were soaking wet and leaking water into the bottom of the cooler.

And yeah, it's lame that I lost the sticks but it's a really good lesson for me and hopefully some others on the board

Re: Water damage and MOLD (pics!)

Dude, my heart breaks for you. Those sticks are all done. Start over.

Funny, there is no such thing as an "accidental discharge" and there is no such thing as "accidentally" destroying a cigar collection. Both, require "operator error". Lesson learned.

There are reasons why I don't "coolidor". One being, there is no wood to take up the slack for my mistakes. Plastic is absolutely unforgiving. I know I am prone to screwing up, so I am real careful about keeping my beads at half mast and everything sits in a very forgiving, cedar-lined casket.
