Re: Your favorite box pressed

I've only had two box pressed so far. A RP Vintage'92 and a Romeo y Julieta "E". The RYJ was plugged and I couldn't smoke it all but from the taste I got from it I would still go with the RP as my favorite Box Press so far.

Padron 2000, divine!

Also Sancho Panza the little one, Quixtote I think. Very nice.

Probably my imagination, but I find box-pressed sticks to have a better and consistent draw compared to the regular round critters.

Re: Your favorite box pressed

Here's something I've been curious about, and never got around to asking:

How do they measure the ring gauge on a box pressed cigar? Corner-to-corner? Pre-pressing? I have no idea.

I would guess they measure the same as a parejo....outside diameter (or call it perimeter if you please).

Re: Your favorite box pressed

I like the Padron 64 and also the RP Vintage 1990 Box Pressed Torpedo. Feels good in the hand and packed with tobacco.

My guess was always the pre-pressed size. No evidence to back it up though. I'd be interested to hear if someone has some solid evidence.

Re: Your favorite box pressed

I didn't care for box pressed after the very first one I tried but now I love them. Mainly because I seem to get better consistency of draw with box pressed. But anyhow my favorites are:

Padron 4000 (or any 1926) - not sharply pressed, still semi-round
Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Toro Maduro - these are pressed nice and sharp

Funny, come to think of it... those are the only two I stock all the time currently that are box pressed. Though right now I have a box pressed Ashton VSG though I haven't tried it yet.

I'm not a big fan of box-press but i have to say that the Nestor Reserve Maduro is my favorite.

Oliva Serie G maduro and Sancho Panza double maduro. Great, affordable box pressed smokes.

Without a doubt, the robusto for me, but wow what a smoke. And they are half priced with the thompson's 5 pack frenzy deal. I went in for 3 box quantities at that price.

Re: Your favorite box pressed

I love the box press first of all, and the two cigars that come to mind would have to be:

1) Padron Anniversary 1964 Exclusivo Maduro

2)Ashton VSG Torpedo
