Suggest something similar - RP 1999

I'm pretty new to the game and haven't tried a whole lot of cigars. One cigar I HAVE tried that I really enjoyed was a Rocky Patel Vintage 1999. I've had a few of these actually, and it's definitely been my favorite smoke so far. In particular, about the middle third of the cigar is fantastic. My understanding is that this is a very mild cigar. I'm looking for some similar cigars that I can branch out to try that taste similar (but that won't also make me regret the fact that I'm not currently smoking a RP 1999). Obviously price is a also a factor, because RPs are damn expensive.

From the research I have done, 5 vegas golds and Casa Toranos are fairly similar. Any other suggestions?

*edit - looks like this probably should have gone in the questions subforum. Mods feel free to move the thread

Yes the Casa Torano has the same kind of wrapper leaf, its one of my wife's favorite smokes. You should also try the new Oliva Conn, also same kind of wapprer and Oliva makes a great product! If you want to try something with a similar profile but with more body and flavor go for a 601 Black, that is my wife's favorite cigar but makes her cigar drink

I'll look into the Oliva and 601 - thanks.

ditto to those listed above. Also, look into:

NUB Connecticut (a bit of spice, similar to Casa Torano)
Rocky Patel Connecticut (very similar to 1999 imho, and cheaper!)
Gurkha Symphony

A bit stronger, more on the mild-medium side of things, you'll find my 4 favorites:
Cabaiguan (one of my favorite smokes right now, complex and delicious--simply fantastic!)
Perdomo ESV Connecticut (butter cream plus pepper, but not hot pepper at all--my go-to Connie!)
CAO Black (creamy, thick smoke. Cedar and a natural sweetness--this was the first cigar I truly loved, and still do)
Edge Lite, by Rocky Patel (lots of spices, grass, and cream--plus butter if aged--holds flavor to the nub)

And to the ones the have already been mentioned...Perdomo ESV1991. My main morning go to smoke is the 5 Vegas Gold. Those can be had very reasonable when on sale. My wife loves the Casa Torano also.

I've got 5 vegas gold, RP Edge Lite, and RP Connecticut on the way. I'll give those a try and try to pick some of the others up in samplers when I can. Thanks for the suggestions!

Glad you enjoyed this cigar,,keep going down the line with the 1992 and 1990. Rocky makes some very good smokes but he tends to "saturate" his own line with more cigars that are marginal. The other brothers here mentioned some other good cigars as well,,,there are so many good cigars out there,,,just enjoy the search for more as this is a life long ride.

ditto to the Nub Conn and 5 Vegas Gold. I'm smoking an RP 1999 right now and it is, indeed, a fine cigar.

Some very nice smokes being mentioned. One of the milder ones I enjoyed was the Perdomo Reserve Champagne series.

I would agree with the Nub, and also try the Fonseca 5-50, generally you can get them for a little over two bills from the devil site.

Dittos on the Casa Torano and new Oliva Connecticut Reserve. Just had the Oliva, and it had a nice little spicy kick for a mild cigar. Definitely check it out.

5 Vegas Golds are good, also you can try a Montecristo White. One of my favorite cigars.
