Looks a lot like the HSG in Greg's picture.

Re: What am I smoking? Taboo what?

Okay so I wasn't thinking too clearly before his are the sticks from the original order:

Here's what I got:

Padron 80yr Maduro (ah no, not it)

Oliva V Figurado x4 (nope)

Limited Reserve Conn x1 (nope, has Limited Reserve written on it, I believe)
SFO (Special Forces) x1 (THIS COULD BE IT)
Twist x2 (nope, no twist action)
Dominican Maduro x1 (THIS COULD BE IT)

So is it a Dominican Maduro or SFO (Special Forces)? We're getting closer!

I really don't think its a Special Forces. Those wrappers are just plain DARK! So, I'd go with the dominican maduro.

I agree, I've got both the SF original and SFBC in my humi and they are almost black.

I was going to say HSG at first, but since you showed us your order, I'd say the Dominican Maduro is what your lookin at. Enjoy!!

Re: What am I smoking? Taboo what?

Not a Lim Reserve because they have two bands. I am sure that is a SFBC. They are the same blend as the SFO but the wrappers tend to have more shades of brown rather than black and tend to not be as bold as the SFO, but still have the same wonderful flavor. I believe the SFBC Samplers are still on Sale, If not, send me a pm tomorrow and I will extend the Sampler sale until next week for you guys.

HSG (Habano Sun Grown) Wrapper from Jalapa Valley is sometimes close in color to the SFBC but is a completely different blend.

Let me know if I can help
Thanks for trying Taboo Cigars

Definitely not Dominican Maduro. This has to be the SFBC.

Ok, here is the scoop on the Taboo Special Forces Maduro Blends:

We buy this limited wrapper from a farmer in Costa Rica. When we do, he will not let us sort through the tobacco and cherry pick the blackest of the wrappers, we have to buy all of it!
Because some of the wrappers tend to have some shades of brown, we try to sort the cigars into SFO (darkest leaf) and SFBC (hints of brown, sometimes more, sometimes less). In the early days the black wrappers were too strong for some customers and the ones with the hint of brown (tend to be a bit milder) were toooooooo tasty to discard and were just right for other customers, so we decided to keep them and call them SFBC. We try to do the best we can in sorting color/shades.

The SFO is still a bit much for some folks, so try the SFBC if it is because the lighter shade(even if it is very slight) is a bit milder.

I hope this helps?

If anyone has any questions, please pm me. I will be out this weekend, but I will get back asap. If you have my card with my cell phone #, you can call me anytime before 7pm Mon-Sat. Most all mail order customers should have my cell phone on the business cards we send out with the orders.

Thanks
Rob

Re: What am I smoking? Taboo what?

Thanks for clearing that up Rob, and for the behind-the-scenes info on the SF and SFBC! Always interesting to hear how certain leaves are chosen for particular cigars.

At first I was upset with the farmer for making me buy all of it or nothing, but it ended up being a blessing because I ended up with customers that couldn't handle the black black wrappers but loved the lighter ones.

Thanks for everyone's interest in Taboo Cigars
May everyone have a great evening

Re: What am I smoking? Taboo what?

I enjoy both the SFO and the SFBC. Just depending on my mood when I'm ready to smoke. All Taboo cigars usually please my pallet, no matter what I'm craving.
