Experiences with aged Oliva V's?

Hello friends:

I have a box of Oliva V Churchill Extras resting. Bought them in Jan 2009.

What are your experiences with these cigars aged? Has anybody had these after 1-2 years of rest? 4-5 years?

Thoughts and opinions would be appreciated!

Thanks.

I have a couple from the release party a couple of years ago. I have not smoked them lately, but I will do so soon and let you know.

I've got some from a year ago and think the flavor mellows and deepens a bit. New ones seem to have an edge sometimes.

Re: Experiences with aged Oliva V's?

I have some double robustos I have had just over a year and I smoked one yesterday while fishing. So far not really any change. If any I would have to say it might have lost a bit of it's spice and deepened in flavor a bit....a bit more earthiness.But....that just might be thinking I have to say something since I smoked one If any change it was very subtle from the last I remember.

Re: Experiences with aged Oliva V's?

I'd love to get a box of these to age, I had an Oliva V the other day that had been sitting for 2-3 months and it was amazing. I also wouldn't mind trying the Oliva V Maduro, get a spicy kick with the sweetness of a maduro. That would be a great cigar!

When the funds become available. I'm getting a box of Oliva V to age.

Re: Experiences with aged Oliva V's?

I had 4 of the Maduros sitting since their release and found them to be quite good with a bit of age. It was stinky ROTT.

Re: Experiences with aged Oliva V's?

I had some of the 1st released V lanceros and they have a GREAT smell and a wonderful flavor. I agree that it mellows a bit but it opens up a lil more.

Great smokes ROTT and with some rest even better!

What are you doing thinking while fishing? There must be some sort of rule against that isn't there?

Yesterday I smoked a V maduro that had been sitting about 6 months or so and it was amazing, so I would say yes, they do get better with age

Re: Experiences with aged Oliva V's?

All this speaking of the Oliva V Maduro has got me wondering. Is cigar.com the only place that has boxes of the V maduro available? I know they are sold out on the website now, but just seeing if they were available somewhere else if anyone knows.
