beetles

Okay, here is the deal. I brought back some cubans from mexican about a week ago. One of my cubans sprung a leak, and there were beetle holes in it...and a couple beetles crawling around in my travel humi by the time I got back.

I quarantined the other cigars that were in my travel humi. I don't want to freeze them. My question is, it's been over a week and the quarantined sticks haven't shown any sign of beetles. Does this mean I am in the clear, and they avoided contamination?

Re: beetles

FREEZE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It won't hurt them and the risk is just too great for a beetle infestation.

+1

It may take a while before the beetles surface. Since you already found some beetles I would freeze the remaining sticks just to be sure. Good luck!

Re: beetles

Agreed.

If you have the access to one, I'd suggest a chest or upright freezer instead of the one over/beside your fridge, simply because it gets much colder.

Re: beetles

Thank goodness I have never dealt with beetles. When it comes to beetles how does freezing help?

Re: beetles

Freezing destroys the eggs and any newly hatched larva.

Re: beetles

Mexico has many genuine Cuban selling establishments, it just takes a keen eye to spot the fakes.
