And type of bread, snacks, even veggies and fruits have loads of carbs and sugars in them. Maybe my body having ZERO carbs or sugars in it is what killed me.

For comparision the normal person consumes 300-400 carbs a day. I usualy get about 10 carbs a day on this diet. I hope someone with some dietry knoledge can chime in on this one.
10 carbs a day is not healthy. My doc told me to stay at or below 40 a day and I lost 70 pounds in under a year. As far as sugar to fight off the buzz, try some Splenda. It is actually made from real sugar instead of completely man-made chemicals. I use it to sweeten anything including tea and pies, etc.

Re: Buzz?

Are you doing this low/no carb thing as a diet or some other reason? Not that it matters, just wondering. I did Atkins once and lost a lot of lbs.

Why I'm not sure but sugar does help with the buzz. Anytime your smoking a full body cigar everybody says do it on a full stomach. Well sugar is the reason why. When you over do it with a strong cigar get some kind of sugar in your system and it helps. So if your smoking with a low sugar content in your body the buzz will be worse.

So if it is a diet thing just drink of liquor with your cigar (not beer, or mixed drinks with soda, unless diet). It will bring your sugar up enough for the cigar and once your body burns off the alcohol you won't have any carbs left, unlike eating sugar or carbs which will take days to get over.

Good luck.

Re: Buzz?

Just make sure you get check ups and blood work to make sure everything is good. When I did it all I pretty much ate was meat and I had no problems, bad cholesterol went down, good cholesterol went up and liver was good. Shit that was in 2000. I was doing great, on it almost a whole year. Then my mom got cancer and was sick, in and put of hospital, passed away 2 days after my birthday. Yeah diet went to hell and have never been able to really get back on it as good as I was before.

Re: Buzz?

I tried the Atkins diet myself, worked really well. Pounds sort of melted off. The funny thing is you never really think about how many foods have carbs. It's more than you think. Of course you have to quit drinking as well, tons of carbs there.
I usually have a bourbon with a real heavy cigar, sugars in the drink help

Sorry to hear that. Stressfull times in lives often seem to end a good diet, or other efforts to quit a habbit. I do hear though after getting off this diet its pretty hard to get back on it. Thanks for all the help.

Woah woah woah, lets not get carried away! You dont have to quit drinking, you just have to change what you drink. You cant drink carby drinks like beer, and you cant drink as often. But whiskey, vodka, and rum are all fair game in moderation. For some people the alcohol can make their diet stall a bit. For me it had little effect. I usually have a couple drinks over the weekend, not every weekend but when there is something going on ill have a rum and diet coke with no remorse. And if im really feeling good, ill even sneak in ONE beer, as the extra 12 or so carbs in a day wont really kill ya. It never seems to add weight afterwards, just stalls the weightloss out a day or two. But, sometimes you need those little things here and there to keep you sain on the diet so you dont go into a crazzy cheating binge.

Re: Buzz?

I lost 70 pounds and drank beer like it was going out of style. My doctor said that it takes your body a couple of hours to absorb the carbs and that when drinking beer you are basically getting rid of most of the carbs as you urinate frequently. Also I drink Miller Lite which has about 3 carbs per 12 ounces. So even at 40 carbs a day I could drink 13-14 beers and not go over my limit.

Re: Buzz?

So just to update my situation. I had a medium boddied smoke today with some rum and diet soda, with no ill side effects what so ever. I guess it really does have alot to do with whats in your stomach and in your bloodstream.

Glad to hear. As time goes by and you get used to the nicotine you will notice the buzz getting less and less.
