Re: Where to start?

This is sheer madnes i tell you! Its gonna take me forever to try out all these cigars! I only plan on having 1, at most 2 a week at this point.

Yes, i originally thought about starting with 5 packs, but i do now like the idea of getting a sampler. This way i can get a taste of a cigar, and then later get its 5 pack to really feel out the smoke. Do you guys like smoke a ton of cigars all the time to know all these diffrent brands and whatnot?

Re: Where to start?

You've received excellent suggestions and I can understand you are feeling a little overwhelmed... don't worry, a good deal of the enjoyment of this hobby is the journey to a better understanding of cigars and your tastes. As time goes on, you will discover aspects of your sense of taste and smell that you may have overlooked. I find that a good cigar expands my enjoyment of food and drink....well I've never had a problem enjoying a drink...

You asked if we all smoke a ton of cigars in order to be able to mention so many different brands to you...yes, some of us do burn quite a few every week, but mostly I'd say we've been at this for a while. My first cigar was something like 35 years ago.

Remember, smoke what you like and like what you smoke.

Re: Where to start?

When i bought my first humidor (a 50 count) a year ago, a fellow in the store with me said, you might as well get something closer to a 100 count. I didn't believe him at first, but now I have that 50 count and another 75 count filled with plans to build up a vinotemp.

Once you really start cruising the online cigar world, you're gunna run out of room quick. That's my humble opionion.

LMAO!!! You just brought back memories! The same thing happened to me except I took the guys advice and started with a 100 even though I never thought I would fill that one. Well as we say, slope is very slippery

Re: Where to start?

LOL, i think when i get my next one ill just go straight for a 300 and skip the BS. For right now, my 20 will barely house the sampler pack, but it will have to do.

Re: Where to start?

I avg about 7 cigars a week, on a good week more.

Do you know of any cigar chops close to you? That would be a great place to try some singles and get to know the owner and other cigar smokers in your area.

Re: Where to start?

Here's a good deal on what I consider to be a really nice humidor. It's that Savoy Large in Bubinga. Absolutely beautiful wood and fantastic quality. For $120 I dont think there's a better made box out there.

Re: Where to start?

I did the 5 star sampler deal on CI. I think the current deal is pick 2 samplers for 30 dollars. Some good brands to get a taste of and see what you like.

Re: Where to start?

Another place to keep an eye on is right here on Puff. Keep checking the WTT / WTS (Want to Trade, Want to Sell) Many BOTLS here are alway's getting new stuff coming in and to make room in their humis, they put together sampler packs and usually sell tem at decent prices.
