Oliva Connecticuit Reserve - As my tastes, and my gf's tastes seem to come full circle, we are emerging from the maduro / full side of the spectrum, and looking for mild to medium bodied smokes with enough flavor to satisfy the palate, but less nicotine to make our walk or other activities more enjoyable. This cigar delivered to the fullest extent. Now only if I could find a 5 or 10 pack for around $3 each!

Re: What New Brands or Blends Have You Tried This Month?

CAO Eileen's Dream PC. Wait, don't savage me. Let me tell the story.

Camping season is upon us. I knew there would be a couple of people there who smoke Swishers, and honestly, it sort of pains me every time they light one up. So, I bought a 5-er of these, and another of Cherry Bomb PC's, too. One night last week, I decided to try the Eileen's Dream, just to see what it was like. A Swisher smoker might like them, but they're definitely not for me. It's one of those things that sounds like a much better idea than it actually is. It's a beautiful cigar, though. I'll give them that. CAO gets 100 points for presentation. Cedar sleeves and satin ribbons all over them. Took those off, and the cigar looks great. It was all downhill from there, though. The body was soft and squishy, and felt generally soggy. Not too surprisingly, the burn was horrible. It was crooked as Hell, and kept going out. The draw was very tight, even after using a poker on it two or three times.

Then there was the flavor. "Irish whiskey, cream, coconut milk, hazelnut, white chocolate, almonds, cocoa, and vanilla bean". That might work for ice cream, but for cigars, not so much. The sugary-sweet flavor it left on my lips kept making my drink taste all funky, too. Seems like they went to a lot of effort to wreck what otherwise might have been a pretty decent cigar. Having more than satisfied my curiosity, I definitely won't be doing that again, but like I said, they weren't really for me. Twenty years ago, maybe, before I knew what cigars are supposed to taste like. I left them at camp, and will be going back next weekend to see how they went over. I also kept back one of the Cherry Bombs to try, and I'll do that in the next couple of days. Maybe it will be more to my liking, but I'm not really hopeful. It will be interesting to get back to camp and see how they went over.

I'm not even willing to try that stuff. AN amaretto one was my first and last. Promise.

Re: What New Brands or Blends Have You Tried This Month?

This should be hard. Memory isn't so great at the moment.

Coronado by LFD - Great smoke, lots of flavor but as with most LFDs stuff it was a strong cigar.
Nub Maduro - Wasnt impressed, Habano is much better
Montecristo Media Noche - Good smoke overall, good flavor and was a fairly mild cigar IMO.
Montecristo Series C - Could almost turn into one of my favorite MC smokes, but I think the whites are still a bit better.
La Gloria Cubana Artisana de Miami - Very complex and flavoriful cigar.
H.Upmann Reserva Maduro - Good smoke, one of the closest smokes that I have had to the CAO Soprano.
El Rico Habano Natural - Did not liek this smoke at all, very bitter, and not much flavor IMO.

I'm sure there is more but I just can't think at the moment. I do have a Series V Maduro sitting in my humidor at home that I'm going to light up sooner or later.
