Another rough evening at work, so I decide to treat myself. I order out and pour myself a nice long dram of scotch. I decide to smoke something I really like and determine to focus my attention on a PAM 64 Imperiale.

Im not an inch into the thing when the phone rings. It happens to be a certain female friend who has decided to choose this moment to discuss lo her many disfavors regarding my, shall we say, appreciation of variety.

By the time she had made it through the laundry list of my failings, my "treat" was nearly to the nub.

I hadn't given much but the first thought to the taste, nor particularly enjoyed the experience. All I can say about it is that I'm thankful it had no burn issues.

God, I hate when that happens!

Anyone else have the unexpected intervene negatively in their smoking experience lately?

Nope. Caller ID bro. If I think it is not going to be lighthearted conversation I do not answer when smoking.

Hate that your relaxation plans were ruined though.

I hate when that sort of thing happens. I would have said I had something on the stove LOL.

When smoking a cigar.. you should take the same perspective as having sex with answering the phone.. dont do it. I'll text but unless its a family member... I wont answer the phone

Ah man, now that truly sucks.

Knock on wood as I 've been fortunate lately, no unexpected cigar interuptions.

My wife has a friend who might as well be named Kramer she gets into all these crazy situations, particularly when she runs into a new fella. She has this habit of choosing 'real winners' if you know what I mean. Problem is she can't seem to tell that they are winners (yea, yea, I know! go figure!)

Well she was seeing this clown who after a few dates was not returning her call. So she came by to get some counseling from my wife. Once she came over I excused myself and went out onto the deck to enjoy a glorious evening with a Tatuaje Havanna VI. About five puffs in, wife and her friend come out. The friend is all upset and she insists that I give her advice. To be honest I could not be assed but she persistsed in telling me every f%%^ing thing the clown said and HER RESPONSE TO him. I told her the guy was a clown and she was wasting her time and included a question as to how many times she needed to keep putting her hand in the fire before she understood that it would mean getting burned.

After telling me what an a$$hole I was for being brutally honest she decided to call her therapist to ask her her opinion on the matter. I don't care that she did this but I did care that she did it on my deck. I don't smoke indoors (wife would KILL me) and this is area really is MY area for smoking purposes. After the therapist told her that the guy was no good and that she should not see him again (DOH!!!) she relaxed and thanked the Lord for the therapist advise.

By this point I was down to the nub and remembered nothing about the smoke. Insult to injury I tell you!

You should have told your wife's friend exactly that. Your wife should know the deal, and if she doesn't, make her know the deal. You went outside out of respect and courtesy for your wife's feelings, and home, and her friend impuned on it with her nonsense, and then insulted you to top it all off. Tell your wife the next time you go outside to give her and her friend space, and her friends comes out to bother you. You're taking the cigar inside to the living room and they stay outside.

Lol! Wife is very cool and knows the deal. Many times she joins me on the deck and we hand out while I have a smoke. I am actually very fortunate and have qualms with saying it.

She tries keep her friend away from me in these type of situations more for her friend's sake than my own. She knows I will not hold back my opinions but the friend (who actually is a very nice person as well) can be like a force of nature when she gets like this (which annoying to EVERYONE). She will not stop until she says what she has to say and get your input. I would have left but thought I mistakenly thought I could be done with her and get back to the Tat. NO JOY!

She is one of those people that wants to get everyone's opinion so long as it is what she wants to hear if you know what I mean. Also don't read into me being called an a-hole by her. It happens often and I take no offense and she never says it in a mean way although sometimes it does come out in a sort of neurotic way.

Again, I was not upset about anything OTHER THAN NOT ENJOYING ONE OF MY FAVORITE SMOKES!
