Very rarely. I pretty much always have an idea which I want to smoke. Every once in the while though I'll look down at my sticks and think "which one do I want?". Not often though.

Re: Trouble deciding what to smoke...

I have this problem often. I look, I am not sure....sometimes I think we created this problem ourselves by acquiring a large selection of things we like. Then there are the sticks we love but don't want to smoke because then we won't have them anymore.

It used to be that I would just end up smoking a half a pack of cigarettes instead.
Now I can just grab a Sig II, or a Parti Short and they usually do the trick.
But it is still hard becasue I have so many and I don't want to just go thru 2 or 3 different cigars when I have 20 or 30 different cigars.

"HEY" things could be worse, right.

Anyone else have this problem? It really takes me like 15-20 minutes just to decide what to smoke!

Re: Trouble deciding what to smoke...

I usually spend about twenty minutes in a B&M looking at every single cigar, several times, before buying a stick.

It takes me 3 to 5 minutes to pick a cigar from my humidor.

Re: Trouble deciding what to smoke...

I am sitting on about 400+ cigars so yeah sometimes it takes a while. But hey that is what's so great, having a choice depending on how you feel.

Re: Trouble deciding what to smoke...

YES!

Sometimes I spend so long trying to decide that I just throw in the towel and don't smoke a damn thing.
My major considerations are

1) How good of a cigar do I want to smoke??

Should I smoke the PAM now during the middle of the week? Am I worthy? Should I smoke the sweet reliable Oliva V Saturday night or do I want something better?

2) What size should I go for?

I really want to smoke the DL700 double ligero Flor Dominicana but do I really have the time? Will the PAM Principe be too short?

This is serious buisness. I'm going to spend anywhere for 45 minutes to 2 hours of my life with this cigar and I want to enjoy it without major interruptions. In my life it's EXTREMELY difficult to get that type of consecutive free 'ME' time.

3) How long should I let it rest??

You guys know the deal with this one. 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, let it actually age? Sometimes the length of time the stogie has been sitting in the humidor can affect my decision as well.

I think all the thinkining is why I only smoke 2-3 cigars a week. Perhaps its better for my wallet in the long term.

Re: Trouble deciding what to smoke...

I usually know what I'm in the mood for. But my problem is trying to remember where I stashed them (which humi or drawer or maybe they are in the coolerdor). So all my humis go through major RH swings.

Re: Trouble deciding what to smoke...

I start thinking about it 3-5 hours before, and have decided exactly what I'm going to smoke. Then I see something in the humidor that I had forgotten about, and smoke that instead. Then I do it again the next day.
