You just seasoned it. It'll take a while to stabalize. I hope you didn't put the cigars in there. If you just seasoned it, just give it some time.

How long has it been since you seasoned your humi? Are you using digital or anolog hygro? Are the cigars new? Is your humi sealed properly?

The beads are the way to go. In the summer, even with AC, the humidity can run pretty high. Sometimes you need to reduce the humidity, not add moisture. If your humidity is over 70, they beads will absorb the moisture.

I like to add a second source of moisture in addition to the beads in the winter, whether it be an Oasis Puck or a jar of gel. In the summer, the beads will take care of things on their own.

Sounds to me that you seasoned a box that didnt need it. Open it up and let it dry out for a day. Put the (calibrated) hygro in for a couple hours and see where you are.

Re: Why is my humididty so high?

Was having similar problem with my two desktops.
Pulled cigars and left boxes open over night, humidity now holds nicely between 65 and 70 consistantly, even when the weather gets reaaly muggy.

Also if using analog hygro meters pitch them and go digital. Those krappy analogs were all over place.

Analogs are notoriously inaccurate. Best to check with a calibrated digital and see where your humidity really is before you start making sweeping changes.

Yep. my analog was off by 20% i thought i needed more RH and made my cigars way to wet. your humi could take 3 days to settle. just give it some time and it will settle. in the mean time go get a digital gauge at heartfelt, also get a calibration bag while your at it.

Re: Why is my humididty so high?

maybe you could try some of those 65% beads or something to lower the RH
I wouldn't trust those little PG humidification things very much
