Rocky Patel Spring 09

Has anyone tried the Rocky Patel Spring Collection 2009? I had my first two days ago and was very surprised. I'm really not a Rocky fan but this cigar hit the spot. Medium-bodied, a little spice, and a bit that traditional nicaraguan taste. With the $7.00-$8.00 price tag, this cigar is definitely worth a try.

I grabbed one a month back and plan to smoke it in the next week. Looks like a great smoke. I have had all the others and they were good

Re: Rocky Patel Spring 09

The only real complaint I had was that the last third of the of cigar (like many other average construction cigars) got quite hot.

Re: Rocky Patel Spring 09

well it would be a pretty good cigar. I've smoked 3 of them (robusto) and all have exploded or cracked when smoked. the wrappers are really dry. my Local B&M had constant complaints about them cracking. I tried buying from another B&M and I had the same experience.

Re: Rocky Patel Spring 09

That's a little surprising. We got our batch in just a couple days ago and all the wrappers seem ok. I've read other reviews online that had issues with a veiny wrapper, but nothing about them exploding/cracking.

As for the price - it seems on par to me. Just about all of Rocky's cigar are in that price range excluding the Edge.

It's good to hear these things. I've seen them at my local b&m but have been hesitant to pick one up because I haven't heard much on them. I'll give one a try.

Re: Rocky Patel Spring 09

Have had a few, thought it really had a great springy taste, was almost like a peaty, mossy flavor to it, wished it had been here locally before mid-May. But locally even the robusto touches $10 per so I've only had 3.

Anybody seen any summer 09s yet, see the 08s still on that evil site all the time, still have a few lanceros in the box and may buy some more, but RP always seems so late in bringing out the seasonals and they are almost impossible to find online.

Re: Rocky Patel Spring 09

I finally smoked the spring today and man did it crack bad not very good at all. I have had a few cigars crack on me before but this was just abnormal. I keep my cabinet at 70 and never had this issue before. I noticed someone said that a b&m had complaints about this but has anyone else

I've seen this a lot. I tried one out of the box, and had the same issue. I chalked it up to being fresh off the truck. Then I started seeing it with rested cigars too. I contribute it to another RP failure. I don't know why I keep trying the new blends. I guess I'm just hoping to be pleasantly surprised. The stick started off nice, then faded fast.

I just bought one yesterday. I'm going to let it rest for a few days then try it.

About 5 months ago I purchased a 5 pack of the RP 08 Summer Collections on c-bid. None of them had any problems yet (I've tried 3)....I hope the luck stays in my favor and Im upset to hear about the cracks and other problems....
