Has anybody tried the Famous 70th anniversary cigars?

I saw these advertised and was curious.

Famous is selling a line of house brands--called the Famous Private Selection 70th Anniversary Edition.

Each entry in this line is made by a "big" name: Famous 70th Padron, Famous 70th Perdomo, Famous 70th Garcia, Famous 70th Plasencia, and Famous 70th La Aurora.

My first thought was that Famous Smoke must be taking a page from the CigarsInternational Legends series, but I found it odd that the house brand can actually use the name of the maker in its title, since Garcia, Padron, etc. usually protect the brand name of their major lines; their house brands are usually called something different.

Anyway, has anybody tried this new line? Are they worth the $200+ price tags?

Re: Has anybody tried the Famous 70th anniversary cigars?

I haven't tried them, but I heard the Padron ones were the same as their 64 anniversary series. Plus they are cheaper. They look very good though. At first they were just the Padron boxes, then Perdomo had one. Now just about every major company is making one.

I'd love to try a single on the Padron though.

Re: Has anybody tried the Famous 70th anniversary cigars?

I am curious to try these, but there is no way I'm paying $14 for a house brand single (robusto at that), even if it has the Padron Anny name on it. I would bet in a few months these will be much cheaper (unless they are great, who knows). If someone pulls the trigger on this please fill us in.

I bought a box of the Perdomo 70th when they came out - a very good corojo wrapped cigar becoming even better with time in the humi. In fact I just had one today and will buy another box of these!

I've had the Perdomo, it was a very good cigar. Maybe medium-full flavor, a little peppery, and a really nice earthiness.

I have seen all of them except the Padron on cigarmonster since they started doing the hourly thing at reasonable prices. Lack of humi room has kept me from making any moves.

Never have, but Jorge Padron told me that the blend is totally different from the regular anniversary line.

No, but I am always skeptical when they don't offer a single or a fiver to try it out.

I really like the Perdomo 70th Anny, a very tasty corojo that just gets better with time in the humi. I bought a box when they were released.
