Thompson Cigars

I’m VERY unhappy with Thompson Cigars! I have a customer who loves the Davidoff 1000’s so I wanted to get him a box. I placed my first order with Thompson because they had the 1000’s, as long as I was ordering I added a sampler and a humidor. When I selected the box of cigars from the website it stated that they were backordered but the expected shipping date was the following day (I placed the order on June 15)
After I placed my order and paid, I went back to the site and logged into my new account only to find a new estimated ship date of 6/30/09. Needless to say I found it strange that they would change the date just minutes after I paid, something smells fishy. I received my other 2 items on time and I was happy with everything. Now in a good mood I figured I would give them another shot but at a later date.
On July 1st I remembered that the box of cigars should be arriving today or tomorrow, so I went on to the site to find a tracking #. I didn’t find a tracking number but I did find a message telling me that the item was back ordered.
Now I was getting upset again so I called today (July 7), the woman on the phone told me that they have no idea when they would arrive but it usually takes 2-4 weeks. When I informed the CS rep that it was more then 4 weeks she said possibly another 4 weeks, but she really has no idea because it’s up to Davidoff. She could tell me however that although they have NO IDEA when the order will arrive, I was crazy to think then it COULD arrive sometime next year.
Now the CS rep turns into a sales rep and decides to sell me on a different box of Davidoff cigars (I wanted this box for a customer, not a similar box) as I looked at the site, it just so happens that all of the cigars she has in stock are a lot more expensive. Then I click on the original box of smokes and wouldn’t you know it, they are backordered with an expected ship date of TOMORROW!!!
This is a total SCAM to get you to place the order, once placed they hope you get sick of waiting and buy the next best thing! The only answer I got from her regarding the ship date of tomorrow was that the website hasn’t updated yet. BULL!

That same kind of thing has sent many running from Thompson, whats worse is that they will start calling you non stop to get you to sign up for their auto-ship type deal, they even called me at work (needless to say I requested to never be contacted by them again, and wasn't). There are plenty of GOOD places to order smokes, no reason to mess with them. I hope your Davidoff's show up soon.

I never had a bad experience with Thompson. That being said, i havent purchased cigars from them in a long while. Main reason being their high prices (relative to other catalog/online retailers). Other reason being their crappy house blends. I bought a humidor from them a few years ago and it was priced right, and works great. Nowadays i stick with CI tho.

I will call back tomorrow and have them remove me from any calling list.
I checked the web site and although they dont have the box, they do have 5-5 packs. I cancled the back ordered item and got the five packs (exact same price). They "let me keep" the 2 day shipping I already paid for and threw in 2 lighters.....never again!
Too bad, because I was so happy with the humi and the sampler, i was going to use them more often. As it stands, I place about $150 worth of orders a week online. I think CI will get it all now.

You may or may not know about cbid and I almost hate to be the one to tell you about it, but if you haven't yet you will find it sooner than later. It is CI's auction site, and has been the downfall of many BOTL's inculding myself, you can get great deals but there is a rehab program to stop bidding. Just don't blame me if you go there and max out your credit, lol.

I'm so glad I never order from this company, I almost did just to get the humidor but i did want my humidor to have the thompson label on it.
