Favorite Golf Course Cigar?

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what you guys like to smoke on the golf course. Lately I have been smoking King Baccarat's. They're cheap so if I can't concentrate on them, it's not the end of the world. I like them because they have a sweetened flavor and last quite a long time.

Sorry if this is an old question as I am new to the forum.

Thanks,
Ben

Re: Favorite Golf Course Cigar?

I woud think for the golf course you would want something mild and large.

I am thinking maybe a Don Tomas Presidente. That should get you through about 18 holes.

Re: Favorite Golf Course Cigar?

Smoke alot of Don Thomas's on the course. Dosen't matter which ones.

I quit smoking more expensive sticks out there cause the "experience" isn't the best IMO. I got tired of leaving them on the last hole, trying to fix the burn, the charred taste after I have to relight it a bagillion-gagillion times, etc...

Don Thomas, Hoyo De Monterey, Cameroon Especial by RP, Gispert, Oliva Saint Luis Rey, etc..

Pretty much anything around, or under $5 for me.

But heck... If this economy hasn't effected you... Smoke Opus X's on the course if you can afford em!!!!

Re: Favorite Golf Course Cigar?

I tend to like robustos for golf. Where I am, the weather can get a little hot, and a longer cigar can sometimes dry out. I always look for something in a tube that I can throw in my golf bag and not worry about damaging. Until recently, I saved old tubes and put better cigars in them.

Now, CAO does a tubed version of the Brazilia. Best of both worlds, IMHO.

I go for the Baccarats too, and for the same reasons the O.P. stated.

Now after the round is when I smoke the good stuff.

I enjoy a Gurkha Park Avenue 44 Torpedo. Smooth and they last forever, being cheap doesn't hurt either!

Re: Favorite Golf Course Cigar?

Rockey Patel 1992 or 1990 Vintage seconds, torpedo, for about $3 it is a really nice cigar and then for a 2nd cigar I usually have a single from a sampler that I bought to try, nothing ever over $3 or $4 just in case I leave it or I won't enjoy it if I am not playing well.

Re: Favorite Golf Course Cigar?

I am going to vote for smoking something mild and relatively small...corona or smaller. Mild because last time I smoked a strong stick, I was nearing the 15th hole and the nic kick caused me to lose concentration and then I hacked up the course. You want smallish cuz it can get to be a bother to babysit the log while carting/walking/changing clubs/sand trapping your way along. Go for small and mild. My .02

I agree with you 100%. I do most of my smoking on the golf course and it's just not worth it to have a premium cigar out there. I have been really enjoying the RP Cameroon Esepcial Toros on the course lately! They burn well, last me 6 holes or so and are a good smoke for the price.

I guess you aren't going to take my "small and mild" advice, are you?
