Re: Siglo?

Yea I saw that in the latest JR catalog too made by Frank Llaneza with Oliva. I have seen them in other catalogs but have never tried them the band kind of reminds me of a Cuban Cohiba although I've never seen one in person (damn Cuban embargo). If you get a chance to try one give us a review and let us know what you think.

Re: Siglo?

i have experience with cohiba siglo series yes, but these have nothing to do with them... the labels look similar but its just a marketing ploy... however ive never had a bad cigar out of the oliva factory in NIC and this is where these new "siglos" come from

Re: Siglo?

I originally stayed away from these because of there attempts to mimic the ISOM, I thought the same thing about it - if they need to pretend to be another cigar they must not be good.

But I read some good reviews and had a few friends say they were good so I picked up one of the Siglo VI tubos. It was a good cigar, burnt very well and great draw. I don't recall the exact flavors in it but I know I enjoyed it and would smoke another.

If you get a chance I'd recommend trying one!

Re: Siglo?

Was just talking with a friend on the phone and he says he smoked one a couple of days ago that was gifted to him by the Altadis rep at his local shop. He said he did not like it as it was way too mild for his tastes.

Re: Siglo?

theyre distributed by altadis cigar co. (think all the non-cuban montecristos, r&j's, h. upmann, trinidad, etc.) they made the band similar to the the famed cohiba (cuba) siglo as a marketing tactic... i saw an advertisement at a B&M for the cigar that said "stop breaking the law" (or something similar referring to importing cc's into the us touting the cigar as a cc replacement/sub) i smoked one a few months back when they first hit shelves and thought it was pretty good... i dont remember anything about tastes besides the fact that it was pretty full bodied and a good price... heres another article... hope this helped

Re: Siglo?

I tried one and thought it was horrible. Decent smoke maybe but life is to short to smoke decent cigars. They're no bargain either. Flavor profile was earthy and one dimensional with a very dry finish.

Not worth trying IMO. Tastes nothing like an Oliva IMO which I quite enjoy.

Re: Siglo?

Thought about trying one, then I said to myself... This is the cheeziest marketing campaign I've ever seen in my life. How, In all that which is holy, did anyone ever think this was a good marketing strategy?!?!?!? It almost insults ones intelligence. Do they think I will actually, in my mind, will put these two cigars into the same catagory to compare!?!?!?!?

So I didn't try one... Then everyone told me it was straight up doo doo... Still haven't tried one...

Sorry... Rant over...

Re: Siglo?

I've had one. The siglo vi I believe. It was a decent smoke but, it was not worth the 8 bucks I paid for it at all. I'd say it would be a great 5 dollars cigar as it has some nice spice to it. But above that price you can get much better sticks.
