I usually smoke one that day just to make sure they are undamaged in transit...

But for the rest I try to let them rest at least a week.

I let them sit at least 2 weeks.

This is helpful guys...I just bought my first box ever...I used cbid and it came wrapped in plastic. Should I remove the plastic while it sits?

Yes. remove the plastic and crack the box slightly. It will allow any built up ammonia to dissipate. With a box, Id say let it sit at least a month before smoking from it. Reason being, they are probably in the neighborhood of 74% RH, ROTT from Cbid.

I try to let them sit 3 weeks before getting into them... but yeah that usually doesnt happen especially if its a box purchase I've been itching to try.

Re: How long to let CBid or other online cigars rest?

I usually let mine rest for six weeks or more. You shouldn't get a NC with an ammonia smell, they almost always fully ferment their tobacco before rolling. Cubans are typical for that. Most cigars I get online or from B&Ms are on the dry side, not over humidified. Put an empty container in your humidor and watch the humidity go up. You are just reducing the volume of air to be humidified so it goes up. Wet cigars likely are not causing increased humidity.
