How long to let CBid or other online cigars rest?

How long do most people let, or manage to allow, their online purchased cigars rest after shipping?
Half the time I end up ordering something new that I really want to try so it becomes a struggle to let a cigar rest more than a few days but I'm sure a week or more would be best. Any estimates of how long would help any of us that are probably joining the growing list of people having to buy online or buy less at a B&M. Stupid taxes

A couple of weeks is probably about average. This gives them time to settle into your prefered enviromental conditions.

Re: How long to let CBid or other online cigars rest?

I usually give em several weeks.

But if I can't stand to wait, then I will check a wrapper of one, if too dry then we gotta leave em set, but that has been rare.

Usually they are too moist.

Then I will drybox that gar for 2 days to get it smokeable.

A___nticipa--a-a-a-tion!

Pretty much what everyone else has said....

I let mine sit about 3 months minimum. I go to my local shop if i need a stick to smoke now otherwise I usually get the sick ammonia taste.

Re: How long to let CBid or other online cigars rest?

They are generally over humidified as others have stated and even that being the case, I get angry with myself when I smoke one the day they are delivered...

Like the 5pk of Cubao I received recently. I just had to have one right away, it sucked and was a waste of a great smoke. Even after 4-5 days, I had another one, still needed more rest. Not as bad, but still too early.

Some cigars need more rest than others, I have no idea why, but from trial and error, I figured that out. The Nica Libre's I just got only needed 2 days rest, the Cubao's I got need a couple of weeks apparently...

I just get anxious sometimes, like a kid in a candy store, and make the dumb mistake of smoking a soured stick that simply needs rest...

Re: How long to let CBid or other online cigars rest?

I let them rest while they're in the box getting shipped to me.

If they are in good shape and not overhumidified i'll smoke one as soon as I get them. Some I still have sitting from months prior. Others I've smoked the entire 5 pack in a few days and ordered a box before the week is out. all depends

Re: How long to let CBid or other online cigars rest?

It depends on how many I get. If it's 5-10, then no less than 2wks... for any. If it's more, I watch the hygro closely. If the humidity moves up, I move them out of the main box and let them sit for a month. I dont want them over humidifying anything else and I don't smoke anything ROTT.

Re: How long to let CBid or other online cigars rest?

I give 'em the squeeze test to determine smokeability. I'm probably towards the less picky scale as to letting them sit for a long time. I keep my stuff around 65 and I don't feel it takes my new overhumidified stuff more than a week or so to get down to an acceptable level. Generally I have very little patience, so it's no different with cigars!

Re: How long to let CBid or other online cigars rest?

I suppose I'm more patient than most. I usually buy things I know I'll age, so I'd rather smoke something older with a little age on it already.

1 ROTT, the rest go into the regular rotation, unless I really like the first one, then I'll cheat and have some others out of order.
