My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
Hi everyone ! I love this place ! After a horrible month in which my baby girl had surgery (she is doing good now but is only 3 so it was worrysome) I get to go to a Camacho cigar event at a local B&M. I was just curious what I should expect?
I know there is food and prizes but wasn't sure if cigars are given to taste or anything? Im pretty broke with the surgery co-pay from yesterday and i would feel bad to go and not buy at least a cigar because I want to help support the store. Should I go and check things out or stay home since i cant really buy much till next payday? I just dont want to feel like a bum or mooch but I really could use getting out of the house after being sick, my tire blowing out and all the other crap that happened. Im just curious what the events are usually like too. |

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
Depending on the rep and shop there may be a cigar to try for free.
I have been to a couple events where there was ans some where there wasnt. If you decide to go and they dont offer a free stick...buy one there and enjoy the time away from lifes issues. Good to hear the daughter is doing better! Shawn

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
Very good news about your daughter Devlin!!
As for the event, go and have a good time. Take a couple smokes (Camacho if you have them) and buy a cheapie if you can or any number of acc's like lighter fluid or whatever and if you can't then no biggie. The main thing is to go and get exposure to such events and turn out to support the B&M. We all have $$ issues and there are just going to be times we can't buy. And if a Camacho guy named Dylan Austin is there, slap him in the back of the head and tell him it's from me.

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
Thank yall for the advice! They do sell beer so i could just buy one and hang out. It looks like it should be a lot of fun and with me, the most important thing to do is to continue to find out what my favorite smokes are and to just learn in general.
Lol I will do if there is a Camach rep there. Im not sure if it is just the b&m owner throwing the event in Panama City or if it is partially Camacho. Either way, it should be a blast. Everyone i've met and talked to on this forum have been really nice and great so Im sure there will be some great BOTL to hang out with. |

Just go for the experience. Try to snag a bang for the buck stick. Wish you were in Boston, I could loan you some of mine.

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
Usually the Reps will give you samples if you will talk to them about their product,,,if you like what they sell let them know about it. Usually they will discount the sale of products at these events so even if you do pay it will be a better deal than if you were to just come in on a regular day. Events are held to get your business and to try new cigars. Have a great time!

I am just going to go and check everything out. The place is pretty nice and so is the owner. I checked and it does appear on Camacho's website as an event so it seems to be a lot of fun. I think they are doing some raffles and stuff like that too, so that's cool. Gives me an excuse to give to the wife to get out of the house lol! |

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
I've been to some that were very good, with reasonable discounts on cigars and even some freebies. I went to one where there was a roller present and she made a cigar for me while I waited, which was cool. I have been to others in which the only benefit was $10 off a box of already overpriced smokes. It runs the gamut.

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
In my area there is one store that always gives away free smokes at tastings and another store who has a tasting every weekend and sells that specific cigar at half price.
I was a little nervous going to my first tasting but it turned out to be a blast. I met a lot of nice people. Albeit a guy snubbed his nose at me when he mistook my Invicta watch for a Breitling and after smooking for 3 1/2 hours I left the store and almost took a dive down the escalator because I was dizzy all of a sudden (the store was in a mall and yes you can smoke there!). Be sure just to have a good time because thats what everyone else is doing; enjoy! |

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
I had a great time! I appreciate all the advice from my great BOTL!
The Camacho rep was really nice and gave me a Connecticut (best cigar, by far, that I have ever had in my limited cigar smoking career) and an SLR free, as well as a Camacho single-blade cutter. In the raffle I won a nice Camacho t-shirt as well. Good times all around!! They had Carrabbas to cater food as well as as much free Bud Light, Coors or Mic Ultra you could drink! The store owner is a really nice guy and seemed to have gotten SMASHED! He was raffling off fivers of Connecticuts and SLR's and in the end, anyone who didn't win in the raffle got an SLR. The raffle had a Camacho Xikar cutter, a bunch of shirts, hats and there was supposed to be a couple Camacho Xikar lighters but they went missing. I hope the rep forgot to bring them (he didn't seem sure) because I would really hope no one would be crappy enough to steal them. It was my first cigar social gathering and an absolute grand time! I sat with a bunch of guys and we shot the breeze about everything from politics (did you know in a town in California you cannot smoke a cigar outside on your property?!!?!) as well as just everyday things. I have met some great people here as well as at that event and the attitude of everyone makes me proud to be a cigar smoker. Thanks everyone! |

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
Great to hear you had a good time Devlin, and it sounds like it won't be your last such event huh? It's been my experience that the Camacho crew treats their fans right!
If I may ask, what was the Rep's name?

Re: My First Cigar Event, What to Expect?
I think it is really more about building relationships. Just make sure that you keep that store owner in mind in days to come when $ is a little more available.
