Bands stuck to wrappers
Recently I have had many newly ordered cigars taking off wrapper when I take off the band. Is this happening to any of you as well?

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
It's happened plenty to me, but I haven't noticed an increase recently.

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
I've found that sometimes the closer the burn gets to the band the easier it comes off. The heat might make it a little easier, try it.

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
Smoke it down until the area of the wrapper that has the band is nice and toasty warm... Should come off then... at least in my very limited experience.

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
Yes, and if you're not careful, you might rip the wrapper! (ask me how I know...). I agree with others, I find that allowing the cigar to warm up a bit in turn helps the glue to un-stick.

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
Yeah, get them occasionally. I guess chalk it up to human error.

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
It's like the manufactures don't want their advertisement leaving the cigar till the bitter end---I was just thinking , if you "Possibly", heat the band with a torch lighter if that would help the glue removal easier. I will try and get back ---
Update this works--try it -- fan the torch and do not let it burn the wrapper if possible. Last edited by tobacmon; 07-19-2009 at 10:09 AM.. |

Sloppy production. It happens on all brands from time to time.

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
Yeah, it happens to me sometimes. Usually only takes off a tiny bit of the wrapper though.

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
Yeah dead serious lol they are not cearful enough, and put too much pectin, and get it on wrapper and etc!
I know that if cigar warms up a lil bit band comes of easily, everyone knows that! it makes pectin soft, but taking it of like before you smoke it for blind tasting, and etc! maybe using a lil amount of steam? ![]()

Re: Bands stuck to wrappers
agree with all the suggestions above, the pic above looked like a Fuente.
my experience with them, is they are the hardest to get off. if they dont slide off when the smoke gets warm, they are the hardest to try to unpeel. they come partially off like in the pic and then you have to be careful not to take some wrapper with it |
