Re: Mold and plume
I too have never had a cigar with plume. Does it really make that much "tastier" difference with plume??

Re: Mold and plume
Thanks for the video Bill. Those of you who like to age Anejo, keep your eye on under the cedar sleeve, mold loves it there!

Re: Mold and plume
Plume/bloom is far less common than mold.
Plume will be more or less evenly distributed tiny crystals. It will not be patchy or fuzzy, it will sparkle if held in the light. |

Re: Mold and plume
I'd actually argue the first picture is probably dust or somethign besides plume. Plume looks like stripper's glitter, and is crystaline, not dusty looking.

Re: Mold and plume
Will plume appear if the sticks are kept in their original tubes?

Re: Mold and plume
Bluish/gray is more than likely mold.

Re: Mold and plume
Plume isn't "tasty" in itself. It's the fact that the cigar is well aged and has been in a stable environment perfect for such aging for a very long time that makes the cigar tasty.

dried crystallized oils of the tobacco forming on the wrapper. Cigar Plume is harmless, and it’s an indication of a well kept, well aged, oily cigar. Some Bloom or Plume looks as if the wrapper has little tiny crystals embedded in the wrapper, some but not all. Cigar Plume should not be fluffy. Plume is evenly dispersed over the the cigar be it the head, foot or the whole thing. If there are a few white patches here and there on the cigar, it’s not Cigar Plume, but mold. Cigar Plume will wipe off cleanly from the wrapper with your finger. I think the above is accurate description what do you think? This weekend, if I have time I will look for two cigars. One that has the spiky version and one with the crystal version and make another video
