Hmm... Interesting. I got 5 in 2008 for my father and they looked more like the second one. The left looks like a Casa Magna band on a different cigar...

I have several from 2008 that are all consistant with the color on the left. The cigar in the picture happens to be one of those cigars. I bought them in September of 2008. All sizes of Casa Magna that have been released so far this year that I've seen are more consistant with the cigar on the right.

There was a thread a bit ago saying the 2009s are not as good, or at least less consistent.

They're probably not as good, because they've been bustin' their A double S's off trying to keep up with the demand cause' of their ranking in C.A. this year.

They'll be good with some rest... Mine have anyway. I love this cigar! Smoked one the other night with about 6 months age on it, & it was excellent!!!

I tried the 09 - I did not think much of it. The price was good at $6.99 - I bought two - one would not draw (like trying to suck out of a stick of wood) the other was OK. I will not buy cigars that are rolled properly. The flavor profile did not fit my pallet - it was OK - but definitely what I would call pretty average.

Mine look like the one on the right. Purchased them about a month and a half ago. Smoked one and it was plugged terribly. I have let the others rest ever since...
