Stupid Fuente Glue!!!

Ive been trying to save my bands lately to make a little scrap book of them but the damn fuentes are nearly impossible to get off without severe damage to the band and sometimes the cigar wrapper. grrrr

Sometimes I help them a little with my pocket knife. It's so annoying when they rip though.

I agree, they are very hard to remove, I have all of my favorite bands adoring my humi so I do try and take them off carefully. But fuente`s are hard, they rip, tear, ect.

What I did was looked at all my stock to find one that would slide off the GAR, then I just cut it with scissors.

if you can get one to slide off.. use steam..

Fuente does this so their bands can't be put on other cigars.. I hate them for it and respect them for it all at the same time.

Try leaving it on until the very last minute while you are smoking, the heat should be enough to loosen the glue just a little bit until you're able to get it off.

They are very sloppy with their glue. Hold one of their cigars up to a light, and most likely you will see it is smeared all over the wrapper. In addition, it is sweetened, which I really don't like.

That usually works for me.

Fuentes and Tats are the same way, getting off their bands is very freaking hard, even if you do wait till the burn gets there to heat up the glue!

Very true. I have an Opus X in my humidor which has a heap of glue on the wrapper leaf.

I thought I was the only one who had issues with this haha! I just smoked an Opus belicoso on my b-day and, yup, tore a nice 3/8" triangle flap out of the wrapper when I went to remove the band. EVERY Don Carlos #3 I've smoked got ripped during band removal, too... To their credit, though, none of the cigars' construction suffered cuz of it!

I LOL'D at the title of this thread. Only because I know how it is, though. Thank you Stephen for enlightening me about why they do this! Nice little 'factoid'... sorry i couldn't think of any other word for that.
