5 Vegas Limitada 2008 - Amazing!

So, I went a week without a cigar. It wasn't easy, either, I assure you! I had desire. I had opportunity. I just couldn't manage to scrape up enough of both at the same time to enjoy a stogie. It was like they were avoiding each other. I don't know if my fast had anything to do with it, but when I finally sparked one up last night, it was just fantastic!

A couple of weeks ago, CI had the 5 Vegas Limitada '08 on the Daily Joe, 10 for $30. I smoke a ton of 5 Vegas, Classics, Golds, A's, Miami, Relics, smoke them all, and I just love them. Since I had never had a Vegas I didn't like, I figured it was a pretty safe bet to buy two of the 10-packs, and I'm really glad I did. I had a couple of minor burn problems with it, but I chalk that up to them being only a couple of weeks in the humidor. But the smoke! Holy Moly! I don't know if you'd call it 'complex', or not. The flavors changed several times during the smoke, but it wasn't like I was getting hit with a bunch of different ones at the same time. The first inch or so, I got some pepper, and after that it was just pure creaminess. I would love to see what these taste like in another 6-12 months, but I gotta say, there's no damned way they'll last that long unless I buy at least another box. Right now! What an incredible cigar!

Something I've been wondering about, if anyone can offer an explanation: CI has the 2008's for $125, but the 2009's are $199. Doesn't that seem kind of bass-ackwards? Wouldn't you normally expect the older ones to be more expensive? Maybe I'm just being naively logical about it, and logic is not applicable. I guarantee, if I ever see either one of them again for $3 apiece, I'm going to snap up a pile of them, even if I still have some in stock. This is the best cigar I've had in months. The last thing I had that knocked me out this much was a Padilla '68.

Err... umm... wait. THEY'RE HORRIBLE. DO NOT BUY THESE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! STAY AWAY!!

These, as the name suggests, are a limited production cigar. The 2008 had a run of 75,000 cigars. The 2009 version is a run of only 25,000 cigars. This comparative rarity would explain the price difference.

I recommend you check the devil site if you want a good deal on Limitadas. I bought a box (if you can call the container those come in a box ) of Limitada 2008 for $72. What a bargain. They now have about 7 month's rest, and they are improving with age.

I haven't had an '09, but it looks a lot like the Relic to me.

That makes sense. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks!
