Cigar prices at casinos
I live close the Casinos in Biloxi, MS and occasionally make my way to them to watch my friends lose all of their money while getting carried away with the free drinks.
![]() Anyway, somehow I forgot my cigar for the night and ended up going to the gift shop at the Beau Rivage to see what they had (we were at the Hard Rock but all they had for sale was a Macanudo and a Cohiba). I took a look in their humidor, which was a cabinet style with about 10 or so different boxes of sticks in it and decided that with all the stimulation of a casino I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the gar and that a nice mild one would do the trick. Then I looked at the prices..and as you would expect, they were totally outrageous. An AF Chateau was $12. They had Montecristo's for $19. Macanudo Cafe Portofino Tubes were $12. And an Avo No.2 was $17. I wanted to kick myself for leaving my stick at home. ![]() I sucked it up and went with the Avo. Needless to say I made sure it had my full attention the rest of the night! Moral of the story - if you go to the casinos be sure to bring your own sticks!

Las Vegas is the same way. Except for almost every one I seen in the casino's weren't taken care of! Moldy stick after moldy stick. I felt so bad for all those Padron's!

That pricing is just plain crazy. My in laws have a condo in Biloxi. I haven't been yet, but I will make sure I take some sticks with me.

I learned that hard way also, so I always take at least 3 cigars with me no matter how long we are staying at the casino.

Re: Cigar prices at casinos
I was at the Hard Rock Hotel in Biloxi a few weeks ago as well and looked at their smokes. Laughed and walked away, I always take my own, I was on a bike as well. Learned my lesson years ago at the Monte Carlo in Vegas. Paid waaaay too much for a poorly kept cigar

Re: Cigar prices at casinos
If I go to a casino in Michigan, Usually Four Winds. They have an ok Selection of macanudos and montecristos. I usually bring my own as the prices there are a little high

Re: Cigar prices at casinos
Next time go about 2miles past the Beau and catch the Edgewater Mall. There is a B&M call the Epitome right up front and they are failry reasonable priced, nice selection, and nice staff. Or if you forget before the Beau, stop in Ocean Springs at "Smokeys" its on hwy 90 across from Blockbuster, behind the Chevron. Decent selection , nice prices.
I wasn't even aware the Beau had cigars, but thanks for the heads up on the prices.

Re: Cigar prices at casinos
Prices are absurd... Some years ago I asked the manager at Colosseum Cigars in Caesar's Palace about his prices. He acknowledged how high they were (and practically apologized for them)... but he told me his overhead was so much higher than a normal cigar shop--the rent he paid was astronomical. This was before the days of Casa Fuente, which takes mark-ups to a whole new level.

Re: Cigar prices at casinos
yep. I byo almost everywhere. even going to Euroland...their taxes are so heavy, I would rather take some of my NCs with me than buy $30 CCs there. One spot I have been recently had good prices on CCs.....Little Cayman. $8--$15 at the LCBR pool bar. Then again, they are right next door to Cuba.

Re: Cigar prices at casinos
The lesson seems to be to always bring a travel humidor with a decent selection of smokes if you are going anywhere... casino, cruise ship, island hopping, anywhere. If you do not, you are fighting over-humidified (or damaged) cigars, high prices, and low selection.

Re: Cigar prices at casinos
Most places like casinos,,,upscale dinner restaurants and cruise ships will almost always be expensive as they cater to people who they feel have disposable income to buy at such high prices. They use the "wow factor" of being out and engaging in activities that are notorious for spending money. When vacationing in ports of call or tourist places you can bet that prices will not be reasonable and customary for high end smokes.
