What's your favorite size and why???

the thread title pretty much explains itself... i was reading an old CA article where they asked some of the major cigar makers what their preferred size/shape of cigar was and why... it was a really interesting article and got me thinking... why dont i ask the brother's at puff the same ??

For me, i prefer smaller ring gauge cigars... i think the wrapper really shines in the smaller vitolas... i smoke a lot of robustos but my favorite size is the classic corona gorda (5 5/8 x 46)... it doesnt take forever to smoke, it is easier to control the burn, i like how the size feels in my hand and mouth and the wrapper/binder/filler ratio seems perfect to me... this format gives plenty of time for the cigar to develop and to notice the nuances of the flavor and body... i also like petite coronas and lanceros alot... so ill ask again

what's your favorite size and why????????????

Re: What's your favorite size and why???

In order

Lanceros
Petit Coronas
Coronas
Panatelas
Robustos
Occasional Torpedo or Belicosos

I get the best flavors from a line in the Lancero, Petit Corona and Corona sizes.
Panatelas are just so elegant.
I like the robusto due to smoke volume.
The torps and Belis have such a great mouth feel.

Re: What's your favorite size and why???

I like fat RG's for the volume of smoke it generates. Then again I like skinny sticks for the concentrated flavor. So I try find a match halfway for flavor plus more burn area - I usually end up with 50 to 52 RG. As for length, I rarely have time to finish a long stick. To avoid wastage, I stick to 4.5" to 5.5" lengths.

Generally, the 5x50 Rothschilde fits the bill perfectly for my tastes and time limits. Variations like the 5Vegas Miami Knuckle (4.5x60) make for an interesting life

Petite Corona for sure. So much more flavor in this size across all brands, in my opinion.

I am at total opposites of the spectrum. I really enjoy a corona. Love the way its rolled and I really evjoy a Corona Gorda.

Both give off different flavors and I like them

Belicosos are my favorite. I like the weight and the way it feels while smoking it. Other reasons are, the shape of the head and the amount of flavors and smoke that they produce. They're just perfect.

I second the belicosos. Along with torpedoes and toros. I like bigger ring gauges for the smoke volume and cool burn.

Re: What's your favorite size and why???

My favorite ring size is the 46 for pretty much the same reasons stated by the author of this thread. Next is the torpedo or belicoso (but not larger than 6-7 inches), because I like to concentrate the flavors by snipping off just the tip. But the 46 is perfect for me.

If there was only one size to choose from, I'd say a toro (6X50). Just the right size.

But.... Since there are a ton of different sizes, it all depends on what cigar it is.

Re: What's your favorite size and why???

I like torpedos and belicosos the pointy end ensures the wrapper wont unravel at least most of the time.
second favs would have to be perfectos and robustos.

Re: What's your favorite size and why???

For years, Robusto was my preference. Regardless of the brand, I'd always default to Robusto. Now, I'm a lot less vitola conscious and just smoke whatever tastes best to me in whatever brand. In JdN Antano, for instance, the beli tastes best and most balanced to me. I the LGC Serie R maduro, the No 5 does the trick. In the CAO Criollo, I love the little Mancha. I dislike the larger Casa Magnas, but really enjoy the little Pikito.

I do tend to shun the uber fatties like 60rg, as they just feel awkward in my mouth

I usually grab for the Robusto when trying out a new cigar, it seems to last a "perfect" amount of time for me. but I also enjoy a belicoso

Usually Robusto. I tend to lean more towards the Corona / Corona Gorda size....or Dalia size.
