Re: Thompson Cigar Deals?...! Cheap Or Not?

I just purchased a few samplers from Thompson (Cohiba and friends sampler, and the Maduro Madness sampler). I am new to the forum, and i starting looking around and saw that most like yourself, stray away from Thompson as a place to buy. Any reason why? I'm starting to get alittle worried.

Mostly because there customer service is overseas, and they're a bit pushy on the phone. I've heard of many people get calls from them trying to seduce them into buying stuff, although I've never been contacted by them but I have dealt with them on the phone and it ticked me off.

I purchased from them based on a recommendation of a work buddy who has always recieved good product. However, I am already alittle aggitated because I ordered this past wednesday, and i was assuming they would be shipped on Thursday. However, I didn't recieve a shipping confirmation on Friday, so I called, and they said it would ship on Monday or Tuesday. I feel like this is alittle too slow, but maybe i'm off base? IDK

Re: Thompson Cigar Deals?...! Cheap Or Not?

i do agree with you RInewbie on the slow shipping. It usually take them 2 to 3 days before they ship out their order but so far i haven't had too much trouble with them. Called couple of time and so far they have been very helpful. I'm going to try cigar international since their right in my back yard. also thompson cigars does run some good deals hence i still buy from them.

But most of the time they ship my stuff the next business day so far and usually get my stuff 2-3 days after they shipped it.

untill they screw up, i'll be keep buying from them.

I generally find their boxes over priced. Cigars International and Famous have the best priced stuff. Cigars International has best samplers. Famous has best 5 pack deals. Holts has some nice 6 pack deals, but limited selection.

I think their samplers are well priced, if they have what you want, or you don't know what you want. The boxes do seem outrageous most of the time.

The world class assortment is one that I've bought twice because all of the cigars in it are good ones. I don't know how they do it so cheaply, but I'm guessing they are either selling them at close to cost, or they are breaking up damaged whole-box shipments or something. If I bought these locally, it would cost me quite a bit more, especially with the cohiba in there. The first one of the world-class samplers I ordered had exactly the cigars pictured, the second one had the Hoyo governor replaced with a Punch cigar.

I almost purchased that one on wednesday, but it was backordered at the time. I went with the "Cohiba and friends sampler" and the "Maduro Madness" sampler

I find their prices to be high and I don't like their shipping being based on amount spent and not on the actual shipping weight. You can buy a boatload of their crappy house blends or one box of premium cigars and pay more to ship the one box of premiums which weighs a lot less.

I haven't found any issues with the cigars, all are shipped in ziplock bags with appropriate packing and in good condition. They all seem to smoke just fine, although I haven't compared any of the particular makes I've gotten with the ones from my local B&M. I've only bought from them with free shipping deals, so I can't comment on that.

Also, I'm no expert, so hopefully someone else can speak to the quality of their cigars vs others, but I haven't seen any difference.
