Re: Graycliff Sampler?

I generally find that Graycliff are pretty good cigarsm but heavily over priced. And I'm not alone. I've heard 50/50 on the 1666. Some LOVE them, some don't care for them. They are similar to Ghurka in marketing tactics. "Normally $5,000.00, our price $3.95!" Okay thats a bit extreme but you get the point.

Re: Graycliff Sampler?

9 Graycliffs for $50.00 is a decent score. Much over that and I would say no. Some of them are a decent smoke but none are way above aveage. YMMV

Not sure if you've tried it, I haven't either. But I heard the one with the Purple band is very good. Graycliff Chateau Gran Cru.

Graycliff Chateau Gran Cru Series - Cigars International

I've only had the 1666. I enjoyed it, but I enjoy a lot of stuff. Nothing special but I'd have another.

EDIT
http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...6&cat=19&page=

Cigars International has a sampler of nearly all the cigars they make. A bit pricey, but since its on CI that means 99% of the time that its on cbid. I;m sure you could get for up to half of that list price!

Re: Graycliff Sampler?

All the Graycliff's CI has are here. Decent prices on the samplers...

Cigars International - Search

Although a decent smoke, all overpriced IMHO.

I've had it Cory. Nothing special IMO but that doesn't mean others won't really like it.

I do have a 1666 I have yet to try. Maybe I will smoke it this week and write a review of it.

Please do. Not often you hear so many mixed reviews. And people are 50/50 on these things.

Your reviews are always the best too. If I ran an online cigar retailer I'd hire you to write the sales description for them.

Well what are you waiting for? Get a loan and open up a shop. I hear the government is just throwing money around.

Haha, I'd love to make one. Was acutally considering it. Since I do web design and web development, and I must say I rock hard at it, I'm sure I could get up one of the best looking online retailer sites around.

Its just the whole supply thing. Need to invest money into a warehouse that can properly store cigars, and establish a relationship with all the different manufactures out there for good pricing on their product. Then you have to hire employees to handle the incoming and outgoing orders, and support staff for customer support. A lot of work but there is money to be made.

Another option would be a drop shipper. People order from you, then you order from a company and they ship that order right to your customer with your details on the packaging and everything. So they don't know that you don't own the wholesaler or whatever. Would take some negotiation with some of the top online retailers, but I'm sure one of the top dogs would help out with something like that.

I bought a Graycliff 1666 off cigarbid last week for 54.99 shipped for 10 cigars. I have yet to try one, but I got them for around 5.50 per cigar.

I have a 1666 sitting in my humidor for a week or so that I'm foaming at the mouth to try.. I must just test it out tonight.

ETA - just pulled the plastic off it.. smells almost like chocolate. Will light it up in a bit

Re: Graycliff Sampler?

Well... I must say that I'm slightly dissapointed.

While I had high hopes, the 1666 just did not live up to the hype (in my opinion). It's likely an I-D-10-T error, but it was not nearly as tasty as what I expected.

Granted, I'm a newbie... but after what I've read (and paid), I literally spent the first half of the cigar questioning whether or not this cigar is "supposed" to taste really good, and if my rookie taste buds were not equipped appropriately. In my mind, this should have been mind blowing... yet it was not.

It was enjoyable... just did not live up to the hype I had anticipated.

Having said that.......

The 2nd half of the cigar was MUCH better. Maybe it's the warmer smoke, I'm not sure. But, I definitely noticed an improvement in taste for the 2nd half - and after. The after-taste on my palate is really good.

That's all.

Rob

Re: Graycliff Sampler?

I have had the 1666, the first one was ROTT and it sucked, the second, not so bad. I also burned through about 10 of the PG (blue label). It was good but I'd really be interested in trying the rest. Graycliffs at $20-30 per stick is not all that attractive but at 5-6 bucks per stick, it's a go in my book.

Re: Graycliff Sampler?

Thanks for the guidance and thoughts on this. I let this pass, I am finding that if I try the ones that everyone seems to like that I enjoy them like the Tatuajes.

Best regards, tony
