I'm a sucker for a pretty band!

I like to go to my local B&M and pick up some random cigars. It always seems like I'm drawn towards the cigars with pretty bands. Now I know you can't judge a cigar by it's cover but I can't help myself. I really love a fancy band. I won't continue to purchase a cigar solely on the band if it taste bad, but is a deciding factor if I'm buying a cigar I'm not familiar with . Anyone else share my sickness? What are your favorites, mine are the Alec Bradley Tempus and Diamond Crown Maximus?

I find it to be hit or miss , plain band good cigar, extravagant band bad cigar and vice versa.
David Crown Maximus , good choice and a nice band to boot.

Re: I'm a sucker for a pretty band!

I agree, it's very hard not be drawn in by a pretty band. I have similar problems with names; I'm a history student and I tried Excalibur 1066 solely because of the name. Luckily I loved it!

I picked up a San Cristobal solely on impulse because the band made me smile, thankfully I liked it, it was kind of an expensive impulse buy =D

Yeah, I think a cool band can sell a cigar, but if it is not a good cigar, it will only sell that cigar once.

Re: I'm a sucker for a pretty band!

I admit that when I just wander into my local B&M and dont have a specific cigar in mind I will tend to buy something with a little flashier band. Probably just because my eye is more drawn to them if I'm just browsing

Re: I'm a sucker for a pretty band!

I really thought the Crue was a pretty band.

As for cigar bands....I really thought this one was nice...enough so that I bought it. I really dug the pretty colors (no joke) in the vertical stripes especially.

Camacho Triple Maduro

But I didn't like it enough to try again and I wrote a sorta review about it here:

Re: I'm a sucker for a pretty band!

I, too, am a sucker for a nice band. But, instead of 1 or 2, I'll buy a whole box full. My latest likes: all of the CI Legends, Slow Aged, Sol Cubano.

When I first read the title of this thread San Cristobal was the first cigar I thought of! I love the band, really people. But then again I love tropical kinda imagery, the parrots and all. It really is a good cigar too, just not really as good as the price they command IMO.

Re: I'm a sucker for a pretty band!

I know when I first got started, a nice eye catching band is what I would go with. Trial and error in the beginning I suppose. I think the Perdomo Habano has a really sweet looking band going on!
