New Rocky Patel cigars: Nicaraguan blends

Los Angeles, August 5, 2009 – Rocky Patel has made his name in the cigar world from factories in Honduras, producing his famous lines that have made him one of the top cigar producers in the world today.

And he is not stopping now. Patel will introduce several new lines next week at the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association (IPCPR) convention and trade show in New Orleans, Louisiana, most importantly those from his new cigar-production facility in Esteli, Nicaragua named Tabacalera Villa Cuba.

The two new blends which will highlight his new Nicaraguan production include:

Patel Brothers, the realization of the long-discussed collaboration between Rocky and his brother Nish on a full-bodied, richly-flavored cigar. This new blend uses Nicaraguan-grown leaves for the binder and filler, but wrapped in a surprising Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper! Sizes:...

It will be interesting to see how he pulls this off. If he can keep the smoothness of his existing lines, but bring on a bit more strength, could be very good indeed.

Patel makes way to many cigars in my opinion. He compromises quality for quantity. Hes got some great blends of course. Decade, Vintage, Sun Grown, Connecticut, Edge. But hes making so many diff cigars now.

Pepin also makes a lot, but he never compromises the quality of a cigar, and each cigar he blends lives up to a high standard.

I had my First Vintage 1990 on Saturday and I gotta tell you I was less than impressed. All the hype behind the vintage lines left me not wanting to try the 92's. But I went out and purchased a 92 anywayand put it in the Humidor and hope it's turns out better than the 90.

I'm with you on this. I've had a number of Vintage, both 90 and 92, and none have impressed me. Actually, they ticked me off! Each one I had was so mild and bland I didn't see any point smoking it. I actually gifted the last 2-3 Vintage's I had a while back. I think I will try just one more, a single, in case I got duds the times I ordered them because I know so many people here love them and no one has yet mentioned them as being mild/bland.
