Question About 5 Vegas

I had a 5 Vegas A Artisan not too long ago and was hit with a "dirty" taste. As in, like dirt. Wasn't so much feeling it. Had a 5 Vegas Miami the other day and many of the same tones were there, but it was altogether more spicy. Is this typical of this line or should I let these age for another spell?

Re: Question About 5 Vegas

I have never tasted a "dirty" taste with these. I usually get a bit of spice and a little sweet flavor from them. Maybe just a bad stick.

Re: Question About 5 Vegas

Only 5 Vegas I've smoked is the Series A. Almost been through a whole box and haven't found a bad one. They do get much smoother with some age. The last of mine have been sitting for a couple years now, they get better every time light one

Re: Question About 5 Vegas

Should give em another try. They are all made by different makers I believe.

Pepin makes the Miami, so you can expect the spice. A lot of people smoke the Classic and 'A' regularly. Haven't heard as much about the Gold's or Cask Strength.

I liked the "A"alot really. Did you buy it online and not let it rest?

Ive also had the Miami and frankly i thought it was an awesome smoke made by Don Pepin Garcia.

Needs more rest. I had the same experience with an Oliva G Maduro. 4 months later they are much better.

Re: Question About 5 Vegas

I smoke 5 Vegas Classics (nestor plasencia), Miamis (Pepin), Serie A (unknown) and sometimes the Golds (unknown) and havent had a bad one yet. They are much better with age though. Classics get really creamy with time. Ive had good luck with Miamis right out of the box but do taste better after a few months......but im impatient.

I smoked my first Cask Strength a couple of days ago, and it's a real departure for 5 Vegas. It seems like the next step forward from the Relic, which is unlike any cigar they put out before it. 5 Vegas has largely been known for their smooth-but-mild smokes. The Cask Strength will bite you back. It packs a bit of a buzz - which is not what I smoke cigars for, but it gets your attention.
