A Noobs First Order

Ok guys and gals. My humidor will be done seasoning in a few days and my humi is a 100 count. I've read that it should be half full (at least) to best maintain the humidity. So, my question is, what should I order in a bulk quantity to help fill it up? I don't want to spend a fortune on these sticks because they'll basically be there to keep the humi full and to smoke on occasion. I'm going to buy better sticks in 5 packs (ones I'd like to try) once or twice a month afterwards. So, can you suggest a couple good "value" sticks that I can order in bulk (preferably somewhat mild)? Appreciate your help.

Re: A Noobs First Order

I just bought the CI Mild and Mellow Sampler and the CI Brown Bag. Great for noobs just starting. It will give you some variety and let you try diffrent cigars. It was about $60 for 22 cigars.

Its not gonna bring you up to half way but it will be a good start.

Depends on your tastes. Can't go wrong with flor de oliva, Little havana over runs (from holts), maybe some la vieja habana by drew estates, cusano M1's, famous nic 3000. These are just a few cheap good sticks. Goodluck!

Buy a couple 20-stick samplers either from cigar international, or get them a little cheaper on cigarbid. You will be able to keep the price at about $2 a cigar, and get a lot of different cigars to try as you see fit.

keep in mind that 100 count rating is for petit corona size cigars so a sampler of 20 will almost definitely be half filling. plus I wouldn't worry about trying to get it filled just for keeping the humidity level, take your time and order the cigars you really like. The slope will drag you down in due time there's no need to rush it. Otherwise in the end when it is full you'll have your humi half filled with cigars that you don't like too much because you just wanted to fill it. plus its a good idea not to fill your humi more than 80% so you can keep the air circulated properly.

As everyone else is saying... samplers. This will get your humi stocked a decent amount and give you a good variety as you figure out what your into. Good luck!

+1 on the kitchen sink sampler, I just picked one up and it is a really good deal. Very Nice cigars, and a wide variety of tastes.

Re: A Noobs First Order

Keep your eye on Monster and Joe Cigar for 5ers of sticks you actually want to try. They DO come up, as evidenced by the 60-plus sticks that've shown up at my front door over the past 2 days...sheeesh...it's all fun and games until ya gotta find a place to store these things! Think I'll muddle through though.

What he said.

The end goal of cigar smoking is to enjoy yourself. If you're buying sticks that you don't really like just to fill up your humidor, you're not enjoying yourself as much as you could be. There are a TON of very very good cheap cigars that are great.

I'd highly recommend 5-Vegas Series A, Indian Tabac, Onyx Reserve, Perdomo Reserve, etc
If you want to buy some really cheap smokes, give Pirate's Gold, or Flor de Oliva a try.

Try samplers off CI(CigarsInternational) and see what you like. I also buy a bunch of stuff off cigar bid and get it for cheap.

I was in your situation just recently, so I found a few great priced samplers at CI(CigarsInternational) plus found myself hooked on CigarBid.
